Won't be able to watch the game tonight but I will lurk here. Hope I see dozens of "FFS Dele" like in good old times. Bonus points for calling out someone to get subbed off just for him to score a minute later. COYS.

Totally but if you've just been handed the reigns at your boyhood club you'd probably appreciate not playing the game on hard mode from the outset.

Oh yeah for sure, from a managers perspective of course you'd want all your best players playing. Well from a fans as well ? I just don't think we can salvage this season so I almost feel like I'm watching out of intrigue more than anything else.

Those expecting us to magically turn it on now that Mourinho has gone are in for a let down i suspect. 18 months of turgid mourinho ball isnt going to get out of the players system in 5 days, that will require serious coaching and work on the training ground. Expect to see much of the same until the end of the season including players playing well within themselves as they save themselves for the Euros. Sorry to put a dampner on things but i cant see how it will go any other way.

I think it's important not to expect it for sure, definitely agree there. I do think there is a chance of an improvement though. Ole I think had a game in charge 4 days after Jose was sacked and the difference in performance was very significant. I don't quite feel comfortable saying that too often though like as if the same may happen tonight as like you say, there's a lot of work that you would think needs to be done with this group of players and it would be wrong to put any sort of pressure on Mason, despite what the outcome of today's game is.

Haven’t been around for a couple of days, I just hope Jose will let them off the leash and go for it as we haven’t got to worry about finishing top 4 anymore with this new super league

Would like to see up top:

Lamela -----son-------Bale

Saints defence is horrid and these 3 should be able to run rings round them.

Who is this Jose you are talking about?

This is the first game in a long time that the anticipation is far more positive than negative. Even if the result is similar to some of our recent games, the football has to be more positive. Hopefully, we'll play to our player's strengths and not try to fit square pegs in round holes.

Top4 isn't gone by any chance with the Chelsea draw yesterday. 5 points up with 6 games to go, we have seen bigger miracles in football history.

3 points tonight and we can believe.

COYS
I'm not holding out much hope but Chelsea do have a seriously tough list of fixtures till the end of the season. Can see them finishing out of the top 4 for sure.

Looking forward to the game, feels like a fresh start and hopefully see us playing to our strengths rather than sitting back for much of the game.

Will be interesting to see Ryan's first line up.

I just want to see a good performance (my expectations have got so low) Players looking like they want to win. Anything like the reverse fixture will be great!

I'm actually looking forward to watching us tonight for the first time in a long time.
I have a feeling we'll romp this.
Obviously depends what line up Mason goes with but I think (hope) we'll see an attacking line up and go at them. For 90mins not go 1.0 and sit on it.
Looking forward to the final as well no although not expecting anything.

Could we all agree on something for a moment?

The first poster to post "Mason out" be it seriously or in jest is a fucking bell end.

I bet some loser will reply to this post with exactly that... Go on... Make yourselves known...

Echo many above, fist game Ive looked forward to for ages. Just the chance to see Mason celebrate when we score.

All out attack please Ryan. Fancy we’ll see both Dele and Bale.

hopefully it's a 433 with peh holding a more disciplined role ala dier in yrs past. rather than a headless chicken and the team moving as a group..

Yeah any day I'd 100pcnt be saying this. With Kane out though does the 4-3-3 work so well? If Mason trusts Vinny then 4-3-3. If Son starts up front you'd think it would probably work better with a no.10

Wouldn't surprise me if he plays Son as a striker and Lo Celso in the '10' role.

And then who gets the LWF spot is another question. I was Bergwijn biggest critic earlier in the season but now I'm convinced he was just played on the wrong wing and would do a solid job from the left.
