Well, we got there eventually. The red card made it attack vs. defence. We huffed, puffed, and finally managed to crowbar open the defensive door.

Fairly error-strewn performance though and lacking for intensity. And between now and the weekend we need to hope something clicks in the attacking areas to give us any chance. All the games this season we've been inefficient, bit indecisive, iffy decision making, and nowhere close to firing on all cylinders in our attacking play. Against City we might only get half a dozen scenarios where we're going at their goal, we will simply have to make them count.

Got there in the end, great to see Richy get off the mark, but Kane and sons form remains very concerning, esp with city next.
Playing poorly but racking up wins and pts , remind you of fergies teams.

Well that was an excruciating watch. One positive is we can only get better?!? Ugly 3 points is 3 points at least.

Son needs dropping for a bit. He's class and all but it's just not happening. It's like playing with 10 men out there. I'm sure he'll find his form again, but he needs to be the sub for a bit
And yet he was the player whose dangerous run brought about the red card that arguably changed the game. Though I take your point he's not yet firing on all cylinders, there's more to his game than the goals.

if our attacking play is always starting so deep, its no wonder our attackers are struggling, aside from hojberg who else looks like scoring other than kane or richarlison..

Conte has 2 days to sort this out or we are going to get bent over and shafted, no lube.
Would take a 3-0 loss against City all day long. They were poor against Villa but at home they’ll tear us apart and Haaland will rip Dier a new one. We might have beat them last season but they now have a striker to finish the numerous chances they create.

The win was great but that kid who made a sign in Brazilian thinking richarlison was going to give him his shirt then ignore him may top it.

There is more to his game but his build up play and hold up play is fairly poor. The ball does not stick to him particularly well, but he is lethal when in front of goal.

perisic needs to take all our corners, had enough of sonnys hitting the first man

I think Son's corners are aimed at the front post for someone to flick on.

It's worked a few times, but his crossing isn't great...

You’d like to think that eventually we’ll click….if so I think we’ll be unstoppable
Either that or we’ll start dropping points.

I feel there are much better performances to come from this group, in particular as we land on our best XI and better integrate the new players. I honestly feel Spence could add something to this team

No idea whether we'd have picked it up against 11 men in the second half, but we did what was necessary against 10. So pleased for Richy getting his goals (Son gets his on Saturday against his bunnies), and a big plus to see Japhet get some minutes and look pretty comfortable with it.

I maintain Marseilles will be the biggest threat in the group, so any win against them is so important.

Thank christ for Richarlison, because for the majority of the game that was pretty awful stuff. First half was so passive, it was infuriating to watch.

Massively important to win the opening game though, especially at home. And that's all that matters......COYS
