I mean it was clear Rio Ave really really wanted it after taking a heavily youthful rotated Milan team to the limit, and being undone by a last minute penalty. But good shootout. The weather was horrific windy wet and horrible, and the players having to watch the madness for almost half an hour.

Before they scored the commentator in the spurs official highlights talked about how good the goals were scored by Maccabi in the earlier rounds so it wasn't a target specific against Joe imo.

Rio Ave were really quite unlucky in the shoot-out too. One pen that could have won it hit both posts and another sent Donnarumma the wrong way but cannoned off the post.

I often feel that the word "unlucky" is used in football as synonym for "inaccurate". They both missed.

It was pretty criminal that in their three opportunities to win outright, they missed the target.

There were times where he didn't press because he was actively closing the opponent's passing lane.
There's no point rushing around for 90 mins if that forces everyone else to do the same and when we're 3 or 4 goals ahead and players need to conserve energy the press is more a hindrance than a benefit.

I was looking actively at exactly this and if I had editing skills I could have highlighted many occasions when he should have done this or pressed but did neither. In no mans land wandering about. I sincerely think that he is a very gifted player but don’t understand why he isn’t getting/doing what he should defensively. In several games before this you can hear Mourinho shout at him to press or close down.

I hate it but I suppose they need to drum up some atmosphere to compensate for the lack of crowds.
