If Liverpool can trust Alexander-Arnold who is 18 months younger than Walker-Peters to play at right back next week why can't we? If I was Walker-Peters and didn't get my chance next week I'd be upset.

Totally agree. He not going to make it until he given a chance to. KWP is the player we have to trust, but really it will be Dier.

Thought he was funny. I mean, I wouldn't want him commentating a real game but it was fine for a friendly.

I thought it was funny when he refused to back down on his comment about Wembley being a hindrance but as soon as it was mentioned that we were 10 - 1* for the league he was all over it like a rash, but then said he didn't think we would win the league.

*It's mostly between 10 - 1 and 8 - 1 for anyone that is interested. If we beat Chelsea in our opening game and perform like we did at the back end of last season I can't see them staying anywhere near that high. Also think the handicap betting is quite generous on us - you can get +6 points with us at 15 - 1.

Personally even with his inexperience I think KWP is a better player than Dier at RB, but what do I know? It wouldn't be the first that a player is thrown in the deep end then becomes an overnight sensation where other clubs sit up and take notice.

Wow that attendance was really poor. People really did stay away. Hopefully that stops that company, can't remember who it was, from running our friendlies again. They can't have made a profit on that surely.

I thought Shaka Hislop was a better than average co-commentator on the stream I watched.

I can't be sure - maybe it was just his collar - but Dier could have been tricked into having some ugly large tattoo on his back.
Lets hope he doesn't score anytime soon.

I guess we can't be too mean on Dier as he played a part in a fine victory albeit a meaningless friendly,
and he crunched and broke up the flow of their game in the absence of Wanyama.
But he was making mistakes.

Hey now, what now.

Depends, could be quick, could be slow...

Most damage needs good Oxygen (key to bringing in recovery nutrients), Calcium (to patch the damage), and Magnesium to prevent Lymph acidity/stagnation, if plentiful recovery nutrition then it should be quick, if area already has a metabolic residue backup then issues can become like Rose or Lamela IMO.
.

Ankle sprains are graded/classified (I-III) by the severity of the underlying ligament damage (ranging from nil injury to full rupture), degree of swelling/bruising & pain on weight bearing...

Generally ankle sprains will be treated with conservative management (protective boot/rest/ice/compression & elevation) for a minimum of 1-2wks.

If you are unable to weight bear an X-ray will be performed to exclude underlying fractures/avulsion (fragments of bones pulling away from the attachment sites of the ligament) or severe syndesmosis injuries (disaster zones...lets ignore this!)

At an elite level they'll scan earlier than the general public (either USS or top level will get an MRI) to accurately assess the underlying degree of ligament damage.

Essential aim of ankle sprains is to manage conservatively & evidence shows that once the initial swelling & pain has subsided, early weight bearing & functional rehabilitation allows the quickest return to playing.

However any ongoing pain/instability or bony involvement will ultimately progress to operative management & then obviously recovery times are increased...

Generally what I tell my patients is:
- Grade I = 1-2weeks, II = 2-4weeks, III = anything up to 3-4months (bearing in mind this is a non-elite athlete group who don't have access to daily physiotherapy, strength & conditioning coaches etc...)

I haven't seen the injury so can't comment on it, but the use of a protective boot is not uncommon, particularly in the early phases. Hopefully we are looking at low Grade sprain...

NB my credentials are a Emergency Department Registrar with a degree in Sports Medicine & dabble a bit in being a sideline/Club doctor for semi professional teams over here in Australia. Also worked for a while in Orthopaedics...

Happy to answer any questions about injuries/medical issues etc that crop up over the course of the season...

So is there anything we can usefully learn fro pre-season results?

Played 4, won 2, lost 2, scored 8, conceded 8.

Opposition: Paris St Germain, Roma, Manchester City and Juventus.

All teams that spend 10 times what we spend. Do we look out of place?

Hard to say. City beat us, as we were underdone. We beat Juve and PSG as they were underdone.

Fuck me aren't you Mr Positive. Did you actually watch us at all last season?
While I agree that we looked good last season but that was last season - history. The points counter has been reset to zero and we have to start all over again. What I am trying to say is that I hope there is no complacency from our players and management, because of the accolades given by the media and the watching public last season.

Yet again, Trippier has laid on an unplayable goal-scoring cross, delivered on the run, with one touch.

How long before people start invoking Beckham and Trippier's value starts to go nuts?

Seriously: his crossing ability is in that class. How long before people start to notice? Including people here?

If he keeps doing that, with Kane on the end, he's going to end up with 20 assists.

It's true that the points counter is reset, but looking at us as a team yesterday, we looked as well drilled all over the park as we did at the end of last season. Our balance is good, and players like Dembele, Eriksen and Kane seemed to be in good form. Think we'll be looking quite decent a week from now. Even if facing a newly promoted side away early in the season can be a bitch.

I was very happy with the performance except that we should have scored a few more. We played much more like the Spurs we have come to love and the first team look ready for the start of the season.

What is weak right now is the bench. We need Son, Wanyama and Lamela back and that gives us real quality but with the out we drop considerably in class and that is a worry. Get these three back, add a couple of quality players and then we have a chance to win the title but otherwise I fear we will just be fighting for a fourth place
