I'll put in a bid for Stalteri. Say, £5.00?

He seems a decent cove, and I need a man-servant.

I have no requirement whatsoever for footballing skills, so he'll do just fine.

Our defence was a lot better with him at right-back than it was with Chimbonda there

Not sure whether this is a question that Ledders can answer for himself.

Injuries permitting, the fan in me says he could be like having a new signing next season.......... the realist in me, however, says he is unlikely ever to play reguarly ever again.

All his drinking escapades point towards the worst to be honest. He's spent his whole career being a model pro and suddenly he's turned into the local pisshead. Something is badly wrong I'm afraid. Either that or during the knee surgery they somehow lodged a scalpel in his brain. :(

Just been anounced that he will take no part in any of our remaining games this season. The reason given is that he is to rest his knee so that he can start next season fresh and hopefully injury free.

To be honest, although I would love the King of old to return, I have resigned to the fact that he may not be back.

I'm not so pessimistic about Ledley's future. He says in The Times
"My knee is actually feeling good at the moment and there is no inflammation, but we have to look at the bigger picture and accept that this is an ideal point in time to recover further, get best advice and make sure that I come back fitter," said King.
"They are six games I could well have taken part in, but we all believe this is worth doing for the longer term benefit."
This does not sound the talk of a man about to retire.

You do start to wonder, don't you? Presumably the decision not to sign an experienced CB instead of/as well as Kaboul was presumably heavily influenced by the medical advice on how long it would take King to recover.

Is selling really an option? Meaning who would buy him? And propably he wouldn't pass the medical anyway...

I think the options with Ledley are either to continue his career with us and play 10-20 games/season or to retire completely. I hope it is the first one.

yep, if he can play 10-20 games in our most important cup and league games , then that's fine with me..

if we did sign some top class at the back and they were unmovable, i would not be at all surprised to see ledders filling in in midfield and at full back in those important games of the season.

if kaboul leaves or does not get games, that's f'd up. there's one player who has the potential to be world class, and not just at CB either.

(for example, does kaboul have a higher goals per game ratio than jenas? i have no idea, just a sneaky feeling the answer is YES)

The answer to that is, they're pretty much on a par.

However, we don't sign CBs to score goals. If they do, it's a bonus. Ramon Vega didn't do too badly in the goalscoring department. It would, however, have been pretty difficult to confuse him with a top-class CB.

it would also be pretty difficult to confuse the experienced r.vega's qualities with those we would expect of kaboul in say, 5 years time. the eagle eyed observer would expect that he would have ironed out the mistakes and concentration lapses and be a truelly class full french international. the boy wants to pass, wants to score goals. Has pace.

to sell or not utilise kaboul would be insane, even by this seasons crazy levy inspired standards..and i could say that kaboul is comolis one saving grace.. but come on, anyone in the french league must have spotted kaboul's talent a mile away.
