SSN reports saying he's signed for Norwich. I'll post a link as soon as I get one.

Bye bye big man. Never really rated you and anytime I've seen you play in the past year or so you've been nothing short of terrifying, but you played for THFC and for that I'll always like you. All the best Seb. ;)

Sky Sports sources understand that Tottenham Hotspur defender Sebastien Bassong has agreed to sign for Norwich City.
Bassong is a long way down the pecking order at White Hart Lane after new manager Andre Villas-Boas strengthened his defensive options with the signing of Jan Vertonghen.

Younes Kaboul, William Gallas,

Michael Dawson

and Steven Caulker are also fighting for places at centre-back, leaving Bassong surplus to requirements.

Bassong has been with Spurs since 2009, while he spent time out on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers

last season.

The Cameroon international had previously made his name in English football at Newcastle,

where he played under Chris Hughton.

Hughton is now the manager of Norwich and is understood to be keen on a reunion with Bassong.
The Canaries would appear to be in need of reinforcements at the back after being thrashed 5-0 byFulham

on the opening day of the season.

Does SSN understand this? Are they lining up a bid?

No beef with the fella, but he was kinda like the player equivalent to 'Arry's they told me we played our bestin a 4-4-2 so I played a 4-4-2 and we got beat 'cos we ain't that good playin' 4-4-2 (no, really I talked to Alan Shearer and he said if there's one player we should buy from Newcastle it's Sebastian Bassong, so I called Mike Ashley and he said 'yeah, £10* million to you 'Arry - dunno wy he was larfin' I mean, I'm a facking football manager, not a facking wheeler-dealer - so, he'll be arriving on Monday, triffic :eek::eek:).

Always felt, even in his first season when the general concensus was that he was half-decent, he had an annoying tendency of stopping and dithering with the ball on the edge of his own area, for no apparent reason, and then getting caught out in possession - and was very lucky none of those incidents cost goals.

Good luck to him at Narch, however (y)

*I say £10 million, but was it £8 m?

Corluka, Kranjcar, Bassong, Pav, Saha, Pienaar, King, Khumalo, Nelsen, probably Modric

that's a lot of players sold/released

so where's all that money gone, where's all the new signings

You do realise there's still 10 days of the window left, don't you?

Corluka was about £5.5m, Kranjcar the same. Pav was £8m. Pienaar £4.5m. Nelsen, Saha and King were released. Khumalo has only been loaned out and not sold.

I make that £23.5m plus whatever Bassong was sold for. (These are all reported fees)

Considering we've reportedly spent £16m or thereabouts on Vertonghen and Sigurdsson already, the other £10-15m will be added to the Modric sale money and spent on a striker and Modric replacement, I'm sure. If we're selling before we're buying, at least give them enough time to sell some players before you start questioning our purchasing!

where have I heard similar replies like that before.....ahh yes the January transfer window...and the summer transfer window before that...and the january transfer window before that...oh yes and the summer one before that

there's going to be a lot of disappointed people in 10 days, vowing to never believe ITK again as usual. then the whole process repeates itself in January

Sorry squire, I've scratched the record...

Our squad was far too big. No doubt there are significant wage savings being made that can be used for the odd player here and there, but we don't need to directly replace all those who have left/are leaving. Assuming Ade has signed, we need another striker, and assuming Modric leaves we need another central midfielder. After that, it would be nice to have maybe another wide forward and another goalkeeper. In my book we have plenty of time to sort out those signings, provided we're looking in the right places.

If nothing ever happened that hadn't happened before and everything that always happened stayed the same you could scrub 6 million years of human evolution (y)

Besides, Levy did plenty of business when Wandery Ramos took charge, and, again, when RatKnip did so. I think it is facile to invent a false pattern of Levy not spening money - he always seems happy to buy for his managers when they join. It is just that unlike numpties like Chelsea we can't maintain that level of spending. Our approach is more like think about what you need, I'll get it and it is your job to mould them into the team. He might be prepared to make some strategic signings and has invested heavily in the youth system to make that of use to the manager, but he isn't going to continue spending wildly in na desperate attempt to match Chelsea or Citeh. AS per the explanation, that doesn't mean he isn't going to spend this summer, on the contrary, it suggests he will.

Good luck to Seb. There's a decent player in there somewhere and i think we've only seen glimpses of it.

Perhaps he's stalled a bit for us but maybe in a new team with some confidence in him, he can show what sort of player he is.

Bassong rarely got games, just wheeled out for the odd europa game, or league game if absolutely no one was available. That's bound to affect form, in his first season he actually did well for us.

He's just confirmed this on twitter.

I liked him, was excellent in 09/10 - didn't happen for him in the end but he should do well at Norwich.
