I suspect the people who don't rate Sandro are the same people who think our midfield is currently fine as it is.

Not glamorous and rarely made the highlight reel but hugely important to Spurs when he was fit.

I would feel a good deal more confident about this season if we had a player like him in the squad now.

Sandro did a good job for us, but my objection was to comparisons with Mascherano or posts calling him world class, people holding that view must have watched different games to me or their glasses were rose tinted

Even Wilson Palacios made far bigger impact than Sandro imho, he was the true 'beast'

He wouldn't last 2 games. I loved the bloke and its touching that some feel the need to abuse me for stating facts. A fit Sandro was good. It was just a rare thing as he was such an akward tackler. Some see it as passion. I see it as an Inability to tackle correctly.

And I don't think our mf is currently fine. Quite the opposite.

An awkward tackler?

An inability to tackle correctly?

Sorry Mr Mustard but I literally have no idea where you're coming from with this.

Loved the guy. We've missed him since his knee injury ruined him. A fully fit Sandro would still be one of the first names on the team sheet now. Great character too.

From Wikipedia:

"During his time in England Sandro became a fan of Darts. It is rumoured that Sandro would take part in pub tournaments across Essex playing under the alias of Phil Potter."

Solid Premier League player. Never world class or "elite" and never will be. Don't confuse your love with his quality.

Just an opinion

I love Sandro but also like our current midfield, does this make me a freak?

To clarify....I like our midfielders, but I'm not convinced they currently make a very good midfield. I think both Bentaleb and Mason are good players but don't work together and if they had a tackling/defensive machine alongside them like Sandro then it would allow them to be much better.

I rate the Sandro pre-injury very highly. Post-injury he wasn't good enough for us, and from what I've read, not very good for QPR either.

So I don't currently rate Sandro, and I don't think our midfield is fine- but I would want Sandro in the squad either.

In his best spell with us (the 2012/2013 season up until his injury) his tackling and interception rates were comfortably the best in Europe. He was a top class midfield destroyer in his prime, but injuries have broken him.

Just thinking about how paper thin we look defensively made me look up The Beast on Twitter. So lame what's happening to him now with his work permit.

He was just immense as a player for us - the knee injury really curtailed his career.

All the players we are being linked with, Sandro is the sort of player we are crying out for.
