Just posted this, made me think back to him as a player.

Did we over-hype him?

Injury free and on form he was up there for me as the best midfielder destroyer in the league, if not world. It's a shame what's happened to him, deserved far better than QPR.

He lacked a passing range but his athleticism and bravery was unparalleled at times.

How we could do with a fit Sandro going into this season - bet we wouldn't have conceded anywhere near the goals we did last season.

He was a £20mill player who'd have given Mascherano and run for his money before his knee injury - which was his second major one. Never the same player after that and no longer able to cut it in the Premier League in my opinion.

Heart & Personality. Something money can't buy in an era of technically excellent footballers.

I think he was a bit over-rated. He was good (sometimes very good) at breaking up play. That was about it. Whilst he was good at that, it probably wouldn't be hard for a club to find someone of that ilk as an alternative. You would also have to question his consistency and ability to stay fit. A value of £20m at any time is a bit of wishful thinking, in my opinion.

Won't have anyone saying he was overrated, for a year he was immense for us, and was this websites collective favourite player, not just for his personality.

Different player after his knee injury unfortunately...

He was an impassable wall before his injury:

This is the best performance by a defensive midfielder in a Spurs shirt in the last 20 years imo.

At his best he was up there with the best in europe. Beyond that he was a fantastic character and had real affection for the club.

If it wasn't for his injury I can't see how he wouldn't be still playing for us, he was what we needed and still need. But after the injury he just didn't come back the same and wasn't to the standard we needed.

What about that time he was on all 4's on the touchline and to stop the ball going out he threw his head at the ball like a graceful salmon. Legend.
