I just don't think there's any point in debating how long he's out for, none of us know for sure and it could be one way or the other. Let's just wait until we get some official news.

If earlier ITK is to be believed, that Poch isn't at all happy about not getting his number 1 targets, then Levy has to leave it up to Poch and the med team, if he still wants him we get him.

Hopefully if we do duck out of this due to the injury we'd go in for Seri.

But that is the point of a forum

I know what you mean but I just find such a particular debate to be pointless.

By all means though, if you want to carry on guessing and getting knickers in a twist (not directed at you) over whether he's out for 3 months, 3 weeks or however long then crack on :D

Maybe all in all I just mean that discussing it is obviously normal, but actually arguing how long he's out for is just pointless until we have confirmation.

I for one will wait until we hear from someone who actually knows before becoming concerned in any way! :)

One thing that complicates the sign in Jan/Free option is that, if there's no fee, Ross can expect a much higher signing on fee and wage. I think we can compete for him now and pay a fee but I suspect City et al would be happy to snap him up on a free and pay a much higher wage than us. It also runs the risk of a new contract being signed (as per De Gea when he missed out on Real)

Agree with all points.

I don't think we should let this injury phase us at all.

We signed an injured Steed Malbranque almost ten years ago who was out for 2 months upon signing. At least that shows Levy has previous for a move like this.

The injury could be blessing in that I very much believe (as stated in the media) that Chelsea and Arsenal are(/were) monitoring his situation. Conte has shown with Moses that he has faith in young English players and Winger could do with a player like Barkley in the middle.

I imagine the injury has stunted any interest from them. It's why I think it's imperative we snap him up now. That, and I think we'll all be running out of superlatives for him under Poch months down the line. He looked a top, top player emerging two seasons ago.

Depending on the nature and severity of the injury, I wonder if the club would rather have him under the care and watchful eye of our medical staff rather than Everton's. Signing him now even if he is out for an extended period means that we would be responsible for his recovery rather than leaving it to someone else and us taking another gamble in January.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I hope we can have another long and drawn out discussion about the manner of Barkley's injury today.

I agree with your post overall, but Moses is Nigerian :p

I don't want to risk waiting until Jan, buy him now then we've 100% got him for Jan (and years to come)

If we wait until January we might miss out.

Yeah agree. And it also gives him the chance to settle in at the Club, building relationships with other players and of course the manager.

As good as Barkley is and/or could be, my view is if its three months lets take the gamble and wait till Jan unless levy can get everton over a barrel! We need someone to be able to feature in CL, i would rather spend £20m elsewhere
