I know you have added caveats, and the positive thing is the emergence of young players, but last season we finished with 69 points and sacked 2 managers. This season with the consistency of 1 manager (who is unlikely to be sacked) we should do better than 69 points, IMO.I think 67points for the season is an achievable target and wouldn't be seen as too bad considering our inconsistency which can be expected given the age of our squad, obviously expecting the loss against City and the draw against any of the others, if we could somehow beat City it'd put a nice bit of gloss on what I'd consider a decent season, with much to be optimistic about.

I've not really been too bothered about points this season. For me it was inevitable that there would be some teething problems as Pochettino tried to familiarise the players with a new approach. The one thing I wanted was evidence that his approach was making a positive difference by the time the season drew to an end. I don't think he's achieved that.
I have the same concerns. It's been a helter skelter season in terms of results, no real consistency. We started with this high pressing ethos, which looked promising as it genuinely looked like a different Tottenham, despite getting inconsistent results. However, that particular style went right out the window by the turn of the year and we look again like a team with no real identity. One man is bailing us out, yet again. Rings familiar to AVB's time at the helm with Bale.
I do hope this is still part of the teething problems and I'm very much hoping that Poch can get the players he wants in the summer and that his "philosophy" isn't just a load of hot air.
I can see hints of what he's trying to do. In theory a young team with a spine of homegrown players that will develop together is a great model. I love the idea of Rose, Bentaleb, Mason, Townsend, and Kane all maturing alongside each other, and it would give the club a genuine sense of identity. It would also be inevitable that such a set-up wouldn't hit the ground running in all areas, so next season will be a real test of just how much potential our young team has.
Unfortunately I'm really not convinced that Bentaleb and Mason are ever going to be good enough. That's probably an unfair assessment at this point, but they disappear from games far too frequently. Andros has some positive attributes, but I don't see him having much of a future at the club.
Add to that players like Eriksen, Chadli, and Dembele who are all far too inconsistent, along with the likes of Lamela and Paulinho who are generally disappointing, and quite a few issues with the squad become clear. Our back four is, for the most part, pretty woeful, which is a major concern considering most of Pochettino's signings were two full-backs, a left back, a right back, and a defensive midfielder. Add Vorm to complete the set and it looks like Pochettino has tried (and failed spectacularly) to strengthen the team at the back.
I think Pochettino has his work cut out for him really. Personally I think we need a mature central midfielder, new attackers for both the left and right, at least one new CB, a new RB, and a decent alternative to Kane.
