OK, so I've just finished inhaling a load of nitrous oxide and thought I'd ask the question...could we win all of our last 6 fixtures???

If we look back at our performances over the past month or so, it would be a firm 'not a chance'.

After beating Chelsea and Arsenal I was super positive and thought our run-in looked fairly straightforward apart from the Man City game - we were unstoppable...now I look at it and think we'll be lucky to get 8 points out of that let alone 18...

Can our players put in 6 performances of their lives - proper blood, sweat and tears...taking no prisoners.

Newcastle (a) - are awful at the moment, i'd hope we go there and win bu knowing our luck this will be the one game Newcastle turn up
Southampton (a) - sill in the hunt for top 4 and playing some nice football...a tough ask but do-able
Man City (h) - they're having a blip but that won't last...I'll be prepared for the Sergio Aguero show once again at the lane
Stoke (a) - never an easy game but one we should in theory win...always a battle.
Hull (h) - see Newcastle
Everton (a) - a tough end to the season, but they won't have Lennon and will hopefully have started their holidays

Also...If we did manage such a seemingly impossible feat...would 72 points be enough for a CL place - surely it would be a close run thing???

So my conservative prediction is WDLWWD...11 points. Anything more will be a bonus.

What say you?

in answer to the original question, not a fricking chance in hell

and the reason why? the large bolded part of your post has only happened 3 times this season, so it would be a shock to see it happen other than possibly v Man City

The difference is City have:

The quality to turn it around.
Will likely sack Pellegrini and get a new world class manager.
Can ditch players for peanuts and sign pretty much anyone they want in the summer.

Whereas we've been pants pretty much all season, have a squad riddled with issues and an awful transfer policy of signing players we don't need, 2nd raters and forgetting to sign players in positions we desperately need. Nothing wrong with the signings for the future but the 1st team squad signings are either non existent or p*ss poor.
Sorry, but that makes City's "blip" look worse :p

Bar Hull at home, it's perfectly feasible we don't win another game this season.

More pertinently, does anyone even care?
I always care. I wish I could say it doesn't bother me but it does. I would love to see us turn our form around and finish with 6 wins. Hell I care even when we play pre-season, I want us to win always. I'm sure every fan that makes the trip home or away will care too which is why the players should.

Just read that we have a 70% win ratio when Stambouli plays. That guy needs to get on the pitch more often

There is no way we are getting anywhere near that record points haul AVB managed.

And we all know that amount then wasn't enough for Champions League.

I would be amazed if we get past 62 this season though. There is more chance of Swansea catching us than us catching Man City etc.

My comment was ever so slightly tongue-in-cheek as I broadly echo those sentiments but in all honesty, are we going to learn anything further about this personnel that we don't already know? Highly doubtful. Is Poch going to keep faith with the same under performing 'stars' in the same rudimentary system? Highly likely. Will the end product be radically different to what has been served in recent weeks? Yea, you get the picture why I, among others are pretty apathetic at our fairly inconsequential run-in.

That's a fair point - I hadn't looked at prem table points from previous seasons...79 points for 4th last season, 73 the season before, then 69,68, 70, 72....after that.

The teams in top 4 bar Man city are all cruising. 72 probably wouldn't cut it even if some sort of miracle was to occur.

Ah well...the blind faith, hope and optimism are akin to self harming...I'll stop now.

Could see us drawing 0-0 with Newcastle, they are awful...we will probably lose the rest though. Remember hull will be scrapping for their lives, and we won't have won for six or seven games by the time we play them. To finish on 55 points would be pretty grim.

Let's be honest, anything could happen. There's as much chance as us losing all of them as there is us winning the lot.

Here's the options as I see it:

1. However unlikely, win all 6 and have an outside shot at top 4 depending on how Liverpool and City do. Neither are convincing, much like us. (this won't happen)
2. Lose the lot and possibly drop into 8th which in itself would be kinda cool cos then we'd avoid Europa League. (this also wont happen)
3. The likely outcome, win just enough to finish 6th or 7th, be back in shitty Europa League and crack on as usual. Hopefully Kane gets the golden boot and wins ALL the player of the year awards :)

All in all it doesn't really matter what happens. It's all about the summer and what we can do in terms of players in and players out. Ultimately that will determine what happens next season.

Ouch! That would be shit! 2008/2009 season we finished on 51 behind Fulham, Villa and Everton. This was before Man City's billions so the Sky 4 were firmly in place. That's not just a step backwards...that fucking DeLorean and flux capacitor territory!!!
