We're not ready for Champions League yet anyway so not too worried about us missing out this season. I felt from the start of the season that a top 6 finish was the most realistic aim under this new management. Phase 2 comes in the summer when Pochettino can dip into the transfer window having spent a year working with and evaluating his players. This should allow him to rotate the squad better and not run certain players into the ground because he doesn't have enough faith in his alternatives.

My comment was ever so slightly tongue-in-cheek as I broadly echo those sentiments but in all honesty, are we going to learn anything further about this personnel that we don't already know? Highly doubtful. Is Poch going to keep faith with the same under performing 'stars' in the same rudimentary system? Highly likely. Will the end product be radically different to what has been served in recent weeks? Yea, you get the picture why I, among others are pretty apathetic at our fairly inconsequential run-in.

It's just about finishing with some pride for me now. As you say we're not going to learn a lot from the remaining games now other than what kind of spirit the players have left when there seems little to aim for. I just want us to go for it now with a nothing to lose attitude and score some bloody goals. No goals in our last 2 games against bottom end of the table clubs is rather depressing. I hate seeing that goal difference we have compared to everyone above us, it would be nice to top that up a bit. Get bodies into the box and deliver crosses and through balls quickly and I'm sure we'll create a lot more chances at least.

I just want to see Kane get a few more goals and get the Golden Boot now tbh
Yep...I'd be gutted for Kane if his season fizzles out now. Despite the media being responsible for the Kane hype, they won't hesitate to tear him apart if he doesn't live up to their expectations.

That wouldn't help anyone!

Newcastle (a) - Poch knows he can't beat Newcastle so he doesn't even gonna try it. 0 points.
Southampton (a) - 2-2. Kane scores and Pochettinomaniacs are happy. 1 point.
Man City (h) - DVD material, guys. 3-1. 3 points.
Stoke (a) - They beat us at White Hart Lane and they will beat us at Britannia Stadium. 0 points.
Hull (h) - Sixth home defeat, here we come! 0 points.
Everton (a) - nil nil. Nobody cares. 1 point.

Pochettino. Great head coach and great man... Just sack him, right now. :banghead:

It's hard to get excited right now after having royally fucked up in the last two games, however, I would like for Mauricio to experiment as much as he's able to with academy players who at least will be grateful for the opportunity of playing in the first team shirt and if that means no Europe League next season so be it.
I tend to believe that what Mauricio's done over the last few games is to show our bean counter exactly which players are worthwhile keeping and which ones we need to move on along together with those already frozen out

Just read that we have a 70% win ratio when Stambouli plays. That guy needs to get on the pitch more often

That stat is from this article on the Telegraph site on 'lucky charms' for anyone interested.

I'm saying 10 points: wins against Newcastle, Hull and Everton (diabolical, doomed and complacent respectively), a point against City (we seem to be able to stir ourselves for the big games).

Newcastle: 0 points
Southampton: 3 points
Man City:0 points
Stoke City:0 points
Hull: 1 point
Everton:1 point

It will be enough to secure 7th place.

Really? I remember some batterings this season Liverpool 0-3, Manchester United 3-0, Manchester City 4 or 5-1, Chelsea 3-0, ??

I can forgive the Liverpool game as it was very early in the season, and we actually didn't play badly in the City and Chelsea games.

You are however, entirely correct regarding Man United, a game which I have clearly repressed from all memory!

Don't think we'll win again this year. Don't think Poch wants to finish in top 7 and Europa league. You can see this with how we've laid a friendly against MLS all stars day before Europa is due to start.

Maybe I'm just an old cynic?

Tough to judge how it will pan out but unless Poch shakes up the midfield we're destined for more of the same as the last 2 games.

What do you mean?.. We've got a world class trio of Mason, Bentaleb and Townsend!!
