Shame, He is our manager, and he has done well, but I will never take to the guy he is a numpty! And if I ever here "when I blur Blur 2 points blur blur! Lets face it. He has had one redeeming feature. He stood up to Levy and stopped the silly D of F, which suits anoraks that want to be football managers but do not have the experience. (LEVY)

Ridiculous comment.

Back to the OP...

The Al-Ahly story was in The Sun a good few months ago with the full interview with Harry. They reported it in a similar vein the ESPN appear to have done but all the quotes were the same, so not sure why its cropped up again.

Anyway, ultimately its old news.

As far as cusop's comment goes, he hasn't taken to Redknapp but he recognises his achievements at Spurs. That's a fair enough comment. Less of the insults please.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has revelaed he was tempted by an offer to manage Al-Ahli last summer.

Redknapp said he was seriously considering a move to Dubai for a better lifestyle, but ultimately could not desert Spurs after leading them into the Champions League for the first ever time.

United Arab Emirates side Al-Ahli appointed former Leeds United and Aston Villa boss David O'Leary as their manager.

Redknapp told the Tottenham's official website: ''There was an offer and I was intrigued. I love coming here [to Dubai]. It's a great way of life; it's safe, no trouble, you can do things, you can go out in the open. I was interested.''

Bit of a surprise story. I've looked on the OS and I can't see what they're referring to. Thoughts?

Dubai, better life style? Now that's a joke no matter how much money you make.

? I think I can just about understand this post even though it is written in gibberish.

So the only thing Redknapp has done well (forcing the DOF position be scrapped) is actually something Redknapp did not do. The perceived failure of the system at the time of Ramos' departure did that. So in fact, Redknapp has done nothing.

Goon island has lost it's only remaining goon people.

howsit cosher? "I was intrigued" does not equate "I almost left". Who wouldnt be "intrigued" or "interested" by a multimillion pound employment contract in sunny dubai?

Me since I don't travel there on general principle.

A country that despite apparent 'westernisation' has medieveil laws, an appalling human rights record - where women are treated as 2nd class and migrant workers as animals - and which is destroying its amazing coastal ecosystems with horrendous tacky developments fuelled by the oil-curruption and greed of the lazy royal class and the materialsim of the slavering MTV masses

Other than that it's probably fine. Well except you can't get drunk and have sxx on the beach to console yourself

Well that was fun. A few understood.
I have never taken to Redknapp.
But the ludicrous suggestion that the D of F was thrown out as failure before his arrival is ludicrous. It was the single biggest screw up in the Levy tenure. None of us would disagree that, Kaboul, Bale, Modric, ect were not great buys. But there was no thought as to how to mold a team. Hence we sold Kaboul and Defoe, now Bent.
Jol had idea of what he was doing but. The D of F process got in th way. He is become so fed up with it he quite Ajax with them constantly selling playerS from under his feet.
Ramos ... I won't even go there ( A low point in the Levy era)

Now Redknapp, First thing he does is gets rid of the Jonny foreigners in the football management and installs almost everybody he has worked with into positions, from Goal Keeping Coach up to Forward coach. Structurally the club is back on track. I admire the guy for getting his way. As we Daniel Levy is a hard one to deal with!

So I respect what Harry has done. But I don't like him.
Nor would I trust him with my finances.
He amazed me against Milan, he good as told the Eye ties his game plan. He carried out his game plan and won. Now how many of us could not laugh at that.

As for the sticks and stones being thrown at me. I am used to it, Basically Sheep follow Sheep !

But I do thank those that did understand my gibberish!

lol...Harry had everybody fooled with the line up, what on earth are you taking about?

He had everybody thinking that we would really be attacking them, yet we were set up to thwart them...and he pulled it off to a tee.

So how did he tell them his game plan exactly...

Um, if we had gotten in MON, or Roy Hodgson, or Rafa Benitez, or Mancini, or even Mourinho, we would have still scrapped the DOF. It was not Redknapp who forced it to be scrapped, it was the pressure on Levy by fans/media who viewed it as a failure.

The D of F scared them off.

This is farsical, I don't like Redknapp and here am I defending him. .. I am amazed that so many here do not know what HR has really done for us. it's not luck

The DOF did not scare them off at all. You live in a little world of your own mate. Literally every thread I go into you are there spouting your illiterate claptrap.

BC was top of my "nonsense" list until you came along. Congratulations.

Yes, Redknapp has done well, but lets not forget that he inherited a talent squad that was lacking direction, belief and love. Redknapp's skill is making things simple, and we all know footballers like this.

over the last 2 years the stars of the team aren't Redknapp buys. Bale, Modric, Huddlestone and Dawson were here before he arrived.

I struggle to criticize Redknapp, but do get frustrated with his "Rose Tinted" view on certain players .... Crouch in particular.

I can only assume you didn't mean to quote me as my post has nothing to do with how well Redknapp has done and everything to do with how it was not down to him that the DOF strategy was dropped. It would have been dropped regardless of who came in.

this has too many comments already. He was over there talking to their press so he was giving them kind words i.e. it would really interesting to come over here rather than saying - move here? you are avin a laff. No booze, crappy football and have you seen what this much un does to a ginger like me? Good horses though and the money is pretty handy.

He was being polite, creating friends abroad for the club and doing his job.

Redknapp buys, no, but you cannot underestimate how Redknapp has transformed some of the players in this team.

Bale
Dawson
Ekotto
Gomes
Huddlestone
Lennon

All of these were finished/playing a bit part/going to be sold under previous managers.

You have yet to impress me!
I cannot believe fans who think everything is Rosey about the club and cannot even contemplate an alternative.. Do I have to find the press statements that Redknapp made originally.

The fact is Spurs were the only medium to top club to use the continental approach FULL ON!
The only reason Levy had to give up was because he sold the Jewels and ended up with Potential!!
Bentley 15
Hutton 10
Botang 6
Tarabt 5

List goes on

Then HR comes in and buys in Crouch (who I would never have believed would come back ) Keane and Defoe and Kaboul..

This was a big gamble on HRs side!

Whitestripe
You are just plain wrong!!
