Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has revelaed he was tempted by an offer to manage Al-Ahli last summer.

Redknapp said he was seriously considering a move to Dubai for a better lifestyle, but ultimately could not desert Spurs after leading them into the Champions League for the first ever time.

United Arab Emirates side Al-Ahli appointed former Leeds United and Aston Villa boss David O'Leary as their manager.

Redknapp told the Tottenham's official website: ''There was an offer and I was intrigued. I love coming here [to Dubai]. It's a great way of life; it's safe, no trouble, you can do things, you can go out in the open. I was interested.''

Bit of a surprise story. I've looked on the OS and I can't see what they're referring to. Thoughts?

Doesn't say he almost left. Like he actually was on the verge, but wouldn't any man, especially a man well into his 60s be intrigued by such an offer?

Surely even David O'leary couldn't bankrupt Dubai club Al-Ahli but he'll try to.

howsit cosher? "I was intrigued" does not equate "I almost left". Who wouldnt be "intrigued" or "interested" by a multimillion pound employment contract in sunny dubai?

I meant the link was kosher, that's all.

And I was just echoing the article title.

Shame, He is our manager, and he has done well, but I will never take to the guy he is a numpty! And if I ever here "when I blur Blur 2 points blur blur! Lets face it. He has had one redeeming feature. He stood up to Levy and stopped the silly D of F, which suits anoraks that want to be football managers but do not have the experience. (LEVY)

The fact that people still have a problem with Redknapp after everything he has done for us simply astounds me.

I'd imagine the interview was actually with a local newspaper in Dubai and Redknapp, as usuall, is just pandering to gallery.

Then don't join, stay in the soup. Look, I don't have to like the guy, even when I accept he has done well for us. I think the guy is a clown, I cannot stand him. I diid not like him fluttering between Pompy and the Saints and it seems Her Majesties inland Revenue share my suspions that he is a little bit more than crooked. My view od spurs as a 45 year fan have seen some low points.

Harry has stood up to Levy and he created a team spirit based on an entourage of coaches. If he leaves in a better state than he left us that is fine by me. But if you share Harrys morality then you may share his fate. :hello:

Do you live in a glass house? And throw stones at it?

I would much prefer a manager to be a lovely man, and for us to be mid-table again. It's such an awesome feeling.
