I wouldn’t have started Kane as he’s proven to be well off the pace when he rushes back from injury. But the player who should have made way for Moura was Alli who hasn’t had a good game since he come back from injury - he’s had a lackluster season overall due to World Cup fatigue and injuries. This could have allowed Kane to drop deeper and play in balls to Son and Moura running in behind.
Overall the defense played well helped by the fact Liverpool were gifted an early goal (sorry but can’t see how that can be handball/penalty, it hit his chest/armpit and therefore made no difference if his arm was out or by his side) and thereafter didn’t attacking with any menace but the front 4 were all poor and didn’t threaten their defense. Too many poor decisions. We had 2 or 3 occasions of 3 against 3 (one of them 4 against 3) and didn’t manage to create a scoring opportunity. Very poor. Given all the possession we had Eriksen especially let himself down. For his free kick I thought he might try to go near post. Allison was set up expecting far post.
We might all be very disappointed but the players will be more so as they know they made it to the biggest game of their career and they didn’t leave everything out on the pitch. This performance more so than the result will haunt some of them.
Agree with this - particularly the bits I've highlighted. Pochettino was far too slow to change things up and our entire front 4 gave a very poor account of themselves. Moura also has two very good chances when he came on and fluffed both. On the night I feel we were beaten by a poor side and the players didn't give their all. In truth we bottled it and went out with a whimper.
