Obviously Bissouma motm for me. Udogie looks great, VdV did well apart from the unfortunate og, Maddison is going to be better than we could've ever hoped for. Dave did well after coming on for Romero so early.

Eagle - Bissouma, Maddison
Birdie - Emerson, van de Ven, Udogie
Par - Sanchez, Skipp
Bogey - Vicario, Kulusevski, Richarlison, Son

Romero and other subs N/A

The front three never looked like clicking and Vicario had a nervous debut, thankfully without being directly at fault for a goal.

The rest of the team did pretty well, and the new outfield signings + Bissouma really impressed. A lot to be positive about.

Lot of positives to take from today. Feeling optimistic for first time in a long time.

Vicario 5 - We need a calm head at the back. and Vicario did not show that today. Hopefully he develops but he needs to calm down...especially with Romero and a young defence in front of him.

Royal 7 - Looked good in the inverted full back role. Really promising
Sanchez 6 - a few scary moments but overall solid
VDV 6 - Took him a while to settle. At fault for the goal but much more composed second half.
Udogie 8 - really impressive debut. Bundles of potential and kept Mbuema in his pocket (compare to Davies last season)

Maddison 8 - quieter in second half but offers a real attacking threat. So long since we had a player like this. That chance where he linked up with Richy was beautiful. Hoping to see much more of that this season
Bissouma 9 - MOM. Engine. So exciting.
Skipp 6 - Solid but quite limited. Pick up ball at edge of centre circle, pass to Kulu on the wing, rinse and repeat.

Kulu 5 - Thought better in second half but overall pretty ineffective. Not sure he will work playing that wide out
Son 5 - See Kulu. He really offered very very little playing out so wide
Richy 5 - Worked hard but always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Frustrating.

Bissouma for me. Immense out there today.

No bad players - a few kind of average though.

Players I liked:
Maddison
Bissouma
Udogie
Royal
Van de Ven

And Sanchez played well given the circumstances.

Bissouma and Maddison close for me gave it to Maddison for the assists he was bought for.

Bissouma, Maddison, Udoghi in that order.
Then vdv, sanchez, Emerson, Skipp
Then the front 3
Then Vicario.

Hoping goalie was first day nerves. Once they start getting used to each other I’m sure he’ll get better. At worst he was like Hugo at his worst.

We need another top striker and CB.

Lo Celso and Solomon should’ve come on.

Bissouma was crazy good. Maddison is even better than I thought he was. Udoghi apparently plays everywhere and plays there really well!

Overall very pleased. We absolutely dominated a team who rarely lose at home. Looked dodgy at the back at times but that’ll get better as time goes on.

I enjoyed that.
Son, however, I did not enjoy.
Udogie over or under lapped many times ans son very very rarely passed to him.
Slowed everything down when we needed more direct play

Maddison provided the difference making quality so it’s him. Biss, Micky, Destiny close behind. Shoutout to Dav too, rock solid.

VDV is a young speedy vertonghen
He was so assured the way he and udogie played I'd be tempted to bring Phillips in as well to cover instead of dav and dier. They played as though they had been in the league for years.

I cannot understand people getting on Vicario already. IMO did everything he had to wasnt at fault for either goal and showed he’s happy with the ball.

Bissouma was by far best player on pitch, Maddison looked sharp and Udogie is going to be a beast

Great - Bissouma, Udogie
Very Good - Maddison, VDV, Sanchez
Good - Skipp, Royale, Romero, Vicario
Weak - Son, Kulu, Richarlison

Wont rate Perisic but he did more in 20 mins than Son did over 70 mins

Wont rate Sarr as well but he came on and did a good job.

This is spot on for me with the exception of Skipp, I would have put him average

Bissouma was totally gassed at the end. What a treat to have someone in the midfield with so much skill who is also such a warrior.
