The three standout players for me were Bale, Sanchez and Reggie. NDombele almost came into this group.

The rest were mostly good. Alli looked lovely when he came on.

The one big difference (I appreciate that Woods and Barnes didn't start/play) but being on the front foot meant our defenders seemed more comfortable on the ball and defending. Sanchez looked a different player. It just goes to show by controlling the game our defenders had more control instead of dealing with non-stop pressure. We kept the ball and kept minimising any momentum Burnley could try to gain.

This is why we need to control the ball more. NDombele was superb in transitioning play from defence to attack.

Mourinho 7 - either he finally got through to the players or he finally let the team settle into trying to control the game more. Starting Bale was a great decision. I was worried he would make the team sit back but he let us stay in control and I liked that.

That front 3 with Dele in Lucas role. Lucas played well but an on form Dele creates chances, Lucas can take them but creates little.

Sanchez my MOTM largely because I think he was unfairly overlooked for his performance by the commentators and pundits, but Bale was absolute quality too.

Really encouraging that we’ve kept two clean sheets in a row now, while scoring 8.

I know it was “only Wolfsberger” and “only Burnley”, but that’s irrelevant IMO. We’ve shown time and time again this season that we’re more than capable of giving away stupid goals to “lesser” opposition even when we end up winning.

Neutralise the individual calamitous errors and we start keeping clean sheets. Funny, that!

Defenders are often overlooked when they aren't either making mistakes or heroically diving in (IMO Terry and Carragher generally got more plaudits than they deserved, compared to their CB partners and superior defenders like Rio, because they made harder work of everything). Although Sanchez made numerous key interventions, he looked so assured and rarely resorted to going to ground, so that it often looked like less of a chance for Burnley than it really was. Had he been half a yard out of position / half a second late reacting, he would have been forced to throw himself about - looking far more impressive, assuming it comes off.

Bale obviously get the plaudits but I thought NDombele ran the midfield and Sanchez was imperious at the back. Tough call but gave MOM to NDombele.
Everyone had a good game but most encouraging was how solid the defense was. JM has to give this CB pairing a long run as I think this is our best combination.
With Bale finding his form and Dele coming into his own if the defense can stay as composed as they did today we can make a real challenge for the top 4

Bale MOM but thought Sanchez also had a great game.

Lloris 7
Aurier 7
Sanchez 8
Toby 7
Reguilon 7
Højbjerg 7
Ndombele 7
Moura 7.5
Bale 8.5
Son 7
Kane 7.5

Lamela 7
Dele 7
Doherty 7

Mourinho 7 - Hopefully he’s finally realised he needs to pick a more attacking line up and take the hand brake off to save both our season and his job.
Pretty much agree. Maybe a 7.5 for Aurier for me. And I can’t decide between Sanchez and Gareth. Think I’ll amend my motm to Bale

I gave MoTM to Bale as he oozed class today and is heading in the right direction.

Don't think anyone played below par but that's what happens when you use your best tools and attack.

However, special mention like a lot of you, to Sanchez. I've been one of his biggest critics but he did well today.

For me though, it is no coincidence that he looks at his best alongside Toby. That happens almost every time one of the CB's play alongside Toby. He is a calming, experienced presence. He may be slowly declining but he is still our best cb.

Special mention to Reggie also for the difference he brings.

I’m just pleased with the team selection and the overall performance

- players coming back to fitness
- Tanguy at CM
- more attacking ethos
- a more attacking threat at AM
- bale playing
Encouraging

Burnley being weak offensively but normally well-drilled defensively, I went with Bale. If the opposite were the case I would say Sanchez.
Actually think Burnley played well; compact, good pushing forward and sometimes unnervingly threatening. HOWEVER, we were very good today. Possibly aside from the Manx game, the best team performance for a while. And the subs coming on didn’t detract from the overall performance. Solid today. Sanchez was awesome. Bale loved it and was thus far his best performance. N’dombele is outstanding and makes things look easy. Peh involved all over the place. Big up the spurs

Bale MOTM by a mile

Look so much better having players with technical ability on the pitch.

I'm going with Lucas just for his genuine excitement at scoring his goal.

Sorry, but I don't get that - yes he scored a goal and was full of energy, but he was no where near MOTM - he fell on his arse two or three times, he skied a couple of shots, misplaced many passes, went on dribbles to the right when there were players in acres of space on the left and a straightforward pass away.

I am not saying he was poor, but just not MOTM.

Voted for Sanchez. Gets a lot of stick on here but he was great today. Brilliant blocks, excellent decision making and use of the ball. Awesome in the air as well.

Bale, of course. But what excited me the most is the link up play between Bale, Son and Kane, it's frightening how good it was and can be. Get Lo Celso in the team and with the likes of Ndombele and Reguillon, I will never be bored again.

It was also a HUGE difference having our first choice full backs back. No Dier, No Sissoko, No Winks, No Davies and No mistakes.

Toby is our first choice centre back and should play every game. It's him plus 1 and today it was Davinson who I like. Good solid performances from Ndombele and PEH. And a note on Ndombele - the difference is huge, his workrate is now first class and 90 minutes isn't a problem.

But yeah apart from all that sensible stuff, I feel like a child watching Bale, he was wonderful today, If we keep getting performances like that from him and that team doesnt get injured, we will COMFORTABLY make the CL places and an outside chance at second.

I finally feel I am watching the real Spurs again after 3 years.

Kane wasn't the MOM, as Bale and Sanchez deserve it, but boy, the lad can really pass a ball well. All his passes have exactly the right amount of weight, be it right to his teammates leg or a few feet in front in order for his teammate to continue at pace. Happens everytime.

What a player
