Feeling optimistic because 5 looks within reach if we continue to play the way we play, and with the added width and place from Clinton and Son.

What are you? YES for optimistic and NO for negative, please.

I'm quite optimistic, personally - that will come as a surprise to 8ers :)

Too many (everywhere, media, not just here) asking if will have second season syndrome but none asking if he can improve.

Improvement through experience from young team.

Genuine alternatives in places we had none last season - like, for instance, Pritchard can come in for Eriksen, where last season we had no real like-for-like alternative.

Defence added to and will hopefully improve.

A genuine full-back on the right this season - and in Trippier we have one noted for his end product which should benefit Kane.

Pochettino in his second year.

Additions up front undoubtedly to come - okay, you can optimistic rate me for this one :)

Exciting youth products breaking through.

Our rivals have strengthened, true. But we have all seen how deceptive that can be - and not just with ourselves. So the question to my mind is will we improve enough/as well as our rivals. Personally, I would hope that 5th is again attainable and maybe/hopefully a trophy.

And please, people, lets not descend into abuse of anyone who holds the opposite viewpoint. I respect anyone with a negative opinion, just so long as they respect my right to hold a positive one, and I will consider their arguments and just as that they repay the favour :)
Why did you bother making a poll if you made it with ridiculously stupid response options? It didn't live up to the thread title, where it is assumed that it will be a simple yes or no response. Yet, you've bizarrely provided two fence sitting options plus the very annoying, very fucking stupid and unnecessary 'goat' option, which 10 total idiots have selected. I seen some stupid polls on here in my time, but this is top of the stupid league mate. Plus, I thought you were intelligent, given your essays, so I feel a little disappointed.

I agree, it sucks we had so many rumors and people saying it was likely to have people come in, but truthfully I am excited for this season.

1) we have so much young talent coming through and they ARE going to be given a chance.

2) Kane has to prove himself. Sure he gets injured and that sucks, but the more pressure the better for me. He HAS to be our MAN.

3) we are pretty deep despite the unproven talent. Fazio might not be a fan favorite, but he can fill the void. Our Midfield is pretty deep despite our DM being filled by a stopgap, one that I think might prove that he has found a position he was meant for. Our attacking third is pretty packed and is competitive.

4) I chose to support this club. I am not a fair weather fan and will stand by the club no matter what players come in. It has been this way since the days I adopted the SPURS as MY team. So COYS!!!!

Moved mine from "inbetween" to "yes." Yeah we fucked about on Berahino, but for me it was far more important that we address our ridiculous and embarrassing lack of pace, and we prioritized that, and did it. I cannot even begin to articulate how pleased I am that we've finally done this, after two years of my bitching about it. Berahino for me would've been the cherry on top, but I am quite pleased with how this window has ended, all things considered. The season has started poorly, but it's all the more indication to Poch that he's got to get some damn pace in there, as the teams we've featured these first four weeks have been quite clunky. On n up with the Lillywhites from the Lane.

The people complaining about our squad this season are not fair weather fans and it's a bit disrespectful to say so. Spurs are my team also, I will always support them, but I'm fully aware our team is poorer this year than it has been for a number of years.

I will still cheer the team on, attend as many matches as I can afford and get over for and pray we win every game so to claim I'm a fair weather fan because I'm not deluding myself is silly

Supported spurs since the late 70's and never felt so disheartened at the start of season. The style of play is poor and I can see no way that we will be in the top 6 or even top 8. We've had crap teams before in the 80's and 90's I know but we were just a mid table team then and I thought we were now better than that. I've always been optimistic at the start of the season and have thought we could make top 4 for the last few years. If people still think that possible then I really hope their right but I just can't see it

I'm also not overly optimistic for the current season but I'm also so very tired of swapping managers every 2.5 seasons on average. We have Poch and Mitchell now, let's give them at least 3 or 4 transfer windows regardless of season ending standings (possible relegation threat not withstanding) to get their own players in before we pull the trigger again.

Agreed and I just don't see us even being close to relegation.

We have dominated every game we have played. Fragile yes, but for me, things will click.

Strange. Almost as if we're actively becoming worse. It's just becoming a cash cow to ENIC at this stage

I am optimistic. But alas, any success Poch and the players achieve will help Levy to justify his meanness.
