I like the idea behind it, but at the moment we struggle to put together 2 good CBs, let alone 3

It's a formation that I always champion, but you are right; we need 3 solid, dependable CBs to be the foundation of the team.

If we can get Verts, Kaboul and Vlad fully fit and playing to their potential then it'd be a great choice, but right now we're weak at the back.

As forPoch's team - fuck knows. We haven't even made any signings yet.

I really feel that Dembele will be one of those who'll go. He couldn't even do anything constructive in our very pedestrian approach last season, so cannot see him doing quick 1-2s in a fluid attack that Pochie preaches.

With Poch handling same squad, I would go for 3-5-1-1 or 3-5-2.

I would play Walker & Townsend as wing backs providing width & have 3 man defense. Eriksen behind or playing alongside Adebayor.

Sandro to be DMF and Bentaleb as play maker. Paulinho to be extra man in midfield, who can join the attack...

Sounds very tactical even to me ;)

--------------------Lloris------------------

-------Chiriches, Kaboul, Vertonghen-------

Walker, Sandro, Paulinho, Bentaleb ,Townsend

-------------------Eriksen-----------------

------------------Adebayor---------------

Oh Yes ; I forgot the forgotten hero ??!!!

My God, let him play & prove himself in preseason. Then I would consider for starting spot. Injury or no injury, 1000min, he doesnt deserve a starting spot in my XI

I am all for Lamela to play - but let him show what he has got.

I hope Poch realizes that even if Lamela struggles at first and only creates or scores 3-4 goals in half a season, he's still probably at least doubling what we'll get out of Lennon and Townsend from right wing.

If we had Arjen fuck Robben in the squad I'd understand why he couldn't get a game under AVB, but fuck me when the other options are this shit you might as well brute force his acclimation to the league.

Perhaps if AVB had stayed the course and Lamela had not been injured, he might have been gradually integrated into the team in place of Lennon.

But Paulinho and Townsend do?

The lad is our most talented player and our biggest investment. He should be given minimum 5/6 starts at the beginning of the season to prove his worth, pre season is largely about fitness, not proving themselves.

Yes, whether you like it or not - Paulinho is the only CM, to score 6 goals for us since 2006/07 season.

Believe me, Townsend has done far better than Lamela did.

I am not against Lamela - he simply has to play better. Let him show what he has got, then gift him the starting spot. Not before that.

Aside from the goals, Paulinho has been pretty dire. The Darren Bent of central midfielders.

As for Townsend: Apps 17(13), Goals, 1, Assists 1

Lamela: Apps: 8(7), Goals: 1, Assists: 3

End product.

We should play Fryers at LB, until we sign a new one.
This is a fair shout, especially against a Allardyce West Ham.

You just know if Rose plays they'll hit long diagonals to Carroll drifting into our LB area. At least Fryers has some height and physicality to deal with that.

[a massive bearded and sexy] Lloris
Walker [after taking Ritalin]
Chiriches [once pumped on steroids and nabbing some of Walker's Ritalin]
Vertonghen [after some anti-depressants]
Rose [after being told it was an away game and he was in the arse end of nowhere up north. Basically fucking as far away from the LB position without actually being dead]
And then just Emile Heskey covering all other positions.
Warwick Davis as a centre back super-sub for corners.

Oh I don't fucking know. It's me, Tim Sherwood.

No believe me the "Townsend hype" was one of the worst things to happen to us last season and I never bought into it at the time either. He kept Lamela out of the team for what exactly? It was quite apparent to me, how frustrated Soldado was when he had to play with Mr Cut Inside and Shoot. I would love to know the stats in regards to how many attempts on goal Townsend had last season. He gave up so much possession in key areas all because he saw his name flashing on the WHL jumbotron. He is skilful and very fast which is what I like about him but that doesn't win you games.
Lamela on the other hand is much more intelligent whether it be with or without the ball than a lot of the players in our squad. He is actually much more exciting to watch even though he does't have the pace which Townsend possesses when he goes off on his runs that pretty much lead to nothing but a goal kick. I think Lamela will be the catalyst in regards to the way the team plays under Poch. He plays with so much flair and I love the quick exchanges he does to get the team playing at a much higher tempo. His willingness to appear late in the box and the fact that he has a much more accurate eye for goal is a very exciting prospect for the upcoming season. He doesn't dither with the ball and his control is "TEKKER" worthy. The goal he scored in the europa is very understated. The one touch finish to place it inside of the post was classy and is a very difficult technique. He has a very good attitude and is mature (on and off the pitch) for someone who is 22. From the top of my head didn't he assist both Soldado and Paulinho? Two players who I think would have shone much more if our record signing was actually given more of a chance to settle in the PL consistently each week. It was a waste of an opportunity by AVB and now Lamela has to play catch up, although while he does so he will still produce more end product than Townsend did last season.

Moving on from that debate I can't wait for next season. COYS. (y)
