Tom Carroll played well in the first half last night. He kept the ball moving quickly and we missed him in the second half - we didn't have the same control when we did have the ball. He's always very assured and wants the ball - doesn't hide when the going gets tough - he was like that even when he first had a chance in the team under Harry Redknapp.

we lost control when Tom went off at half time, he's a Modric type of player, you either get him or you don't, I get him, mustard

That makes more sense than Poch pulling him as he was playing well. I was just going to write that he had been the find of the season for me but, with Alli making the step up and dominating, Dier becoming the next Beckenbauer and Dembele's resurgence, I'm not sure that's true. Still, if you'd have told lots of our fans that Carroll would be a regular choice for a late cameo and, pretty much, first CM reserve, well, they'd probable have called for Poch to leave.

Is he out of contract at the end of the season? If so do you think he is worth a new contract?

Was said we exercised an option early this season, think it was a 2year (claimed, not by me).

What do you all think Carroll's role will be over the coming years? I like him and think he'll be a pretty solid squad player for us but I'm not sure of his best position. I think he's the kind of player who will only get better with age and experience as he already has loads of technical ability and doesn't rely on pace.

Personally I hope he remains with us for his whole career but that's rare these days, I just get the feeling we won't see his full potential untill he gets nearer to 30.

I think he'd better further forward than he actually plays. I don't think he's robust enough to play the position he seems to want to, but I actually think his finishing and final ball are pretty good

For now at least, a lot depends on who he plays with in midfield. I'm much more confident in the team when Dier or Dembele is in there with him but he's shown that he's willing to get stuck in too.

I hope he has a good game if he plays tomorrow, it's harsh to judge him on the away leg in Dortmund as the whole team were off the boil. We might not win but a good performance against them will be good for his confidence.

I'd be surprised if he stays, given that we may beef up our midfiled in the summer and he will only be a cups player, excluding of course UCL, if he stays

So does his current contract run it this summer, seen his name mentioned on a few sites listing free agents for the next window
