If we really wanted to keep him we would have, Son was moaning about game time and we kept him for example.

I don't disagree that we would have kept him of Poch felt it worthwhile to do so, but Poch's comments about Mason are indicative of how strongly Poch felt about him and how it was difficult to see him leave.

If Poch had been certain that Mason would have added something substantial to the team (like the enigmatic Son had), then I think we would have kept him. I feel it was a combination of Mason's desire to see more playing time, song with his desire for more playing time, that ultimately led to his sale. By the same token, we may well have kept him had he not expressed his desire for playing time.

An interesting articlke on Tom Carroll in Grauniad.

Apparently THFC had reached out to Tom to train with the U23s to recover from lengthy injury layoff, while also without а club. He now plays for Exeter. He's 31 :sigh:

Nice little article. I think it captures the cycle players go through, and some of the troubles they have when they find themselves at the end of their career.
