Maybe I’m just cynical, but it wouldn’t surprise me if a PL rival makes a late move to buy him as close as possible to the 14 day time frame just to screw us over.

Had the same thought myself. Although at least if we buy a replacement from abroad the selling club won't have the 'you've left it too late' excuse.

Chelsea can be ruled out this summer too. Liverpool are supposedly having a quiet summer. Would Arsenal move for him? and even so would he go?

Weird ITKs seem so certain he'll leave. Doubt many foreign clubs will be queuing up to pay his fee and wages at his age either.

I just find it crazy that despite the fact he is 30, that no club has come in for him seriously.

The guy has been outstanding for us and had played in 3 different countries , a stack of international caps.

If there’s a better central defender out there for 25 m then I will be amazed . Especially with how over last couple of years prices for players have become ridiculous

The same happened with Diego Godin recently to be fair.

The £150k we supposedly offered is more than most defenders in Europe get paid. It's not a small investment. On face value it seems a bargain but dig a little deeper and you can see why teams may look elsewhere.

You'd think if anyone was gonna go in for him, they would've done it by now. With a set fee of £25 million surely it makes sense to get it done ASAP so he can get settled and in pre-season training with his new team. I suppose some teams might be waiting for outgoings to free up cash/squad places, but in the current market you wouldn't think paying £25 million would be an issue for most teams.

Only 2 weeks left on his clause...maybe he will stay after all.

Surprised Liverpool aren't in for him. They've got the money and him and VVD would strike up a formidable partnership at the back.
He'd also be a perfect fit for City. No money worries. Kompany has left and Toby is better than Stones and Otamendi.
Man U are a mess but he'd strengthen their defence significantly.
Arsenal - don't even want to think about it. Judas II. Ugh.

Pool would win the League easily if they went in for Toby.

Him and VVD at the back, wow.

That said id rather we have him one more year, and miss out on the 25m.

Liverpool do have Matip and Gomez who both look solid alongside VVD to be fair. City and Utd should probably break policy to get him looking at their squads. Maybe he'll end up at whoever Maguire mugs off.

what I fail to understand with Toby is all this time not signing a new contract he's deprived himself of a massive pay rise. Now if he stays another year and sees out his contract I find it hard to believe he'll make more from a signing on fee when he could have probably trebled his wages week in week out for the two previous seasons. makes no sense to me, overplayed his hand massively.

I really don't see him leaving to be honest, well at least, not in this window. Whether there is a bid made in the next window and the chairman decides to cut his losses is another matter.
I have no real problems with that at all as long as the manager is happy enough with the situation.

I don't see a situation where a whole load of teams (including Man Utd and Arsenal) pass up an opportunity to sign him for 25m. Of course, he may choose to turn all offers down and go for free in 12 months but I think he'd have an uncomfortable time.

Fearful of Liverpool. They’ve bought nobody yet and centre back is one of their weak spots.

Didn’t Man U want Godin though 12 months ago? They went in for him on deadline day. I wonder if they’ll do the same in 2 weeks with Toby if they’ve brought nobody else in and are desperate. Might do it to placate the fans.
