Maybe the deal just isn't as great as it seems or Toby just isn't that highly rated by other teams. Its very rare for big teams to go for older players nowadays..Juve do for a select few and when Mourinho was in the market, he would. Apart from that, everyone buys young and Utd have joined the crew. If Utd wouldn't sign him whilst Jose was there, not a hope now imo.

The options seem really limited to me with very few clubs being a step up, interested in a CB and not holding a youth first policy.

I'm really surprised that PSG rumours still didn't come , when they are interested in Bonucci or Boateng.

The only reason I can see that Toby is still here is that he must be after a ridiculous contract. By that I mean £200k+ pw, at least 3 years, if not 4 and a whacking great signing on fee.

So fee = £25m, wages £30m-£40m + a signing on fee of say £5m-£10m. That’s a deal that could cost a club over £100m with no resale.

There is no danger Arsenal are paying that considering their current financial state + their experience with Ozil.

Or he was telling the truth when he said he wanted to go back to ajax.

If he's getting a signing on fee of 5 to 10 million pounds, he'll not get 200,000+ a week. I can see maybe something like 7 million signing on fee plus around 150,000-170,000 a week for 3 to 4 years.

I still think he'll end up in Manchester, not sure blue or red though.

Yeah I could see him being the back up for whoever doesn’t get maguire. Madness really when he’s better and cheaper, but that’s football nowadays.

There was chat over on coys involving an itk that he could now be looking for this on a free transfer. I’m assuming because nobody will pay him the wages he wants so he wants to make up the shortfall.

What is it we think Toby wants out of a deal? I think he’s more ambitious than just wanting a massive payday.

Personally I think he’ll run his contract down here, assuming a super club doesn’t come in for him, and then take a big signing on fee out of Ajax next summer and finish his career there.

If he goes it’s very concerning we aren’t linked with a replacement
I agree, but the alternatives won't be a like for like - the replacement will most likely be someone with ability and the possibility of 'becoming' ... Him leaving is a loss, the replacement won't be any better than what we already possess in the squad.

I don't think we will get an Alder replacement, I think personally that Poch see's Dier as a CB and will probably use Diers current situation as an opportunity to convince him to move back there, I think that'll be the short term solution, Foyth is the long term solution. I actually see Sanchez as Verts long term replacement, he's better on the left, you could argue that Sanchez is 3rd in the CB pecking order and might play ahead of Dier on the right side but long term I see Sanchez ending up our LCB.

I'd love us to get Saliba to add to the competition from the compilations I've seen, but that'd be next season.

Very very concerned we are not being linked with a good ball playing ch to replace Toby. One of Tobys great strengths is his ability on the ball and picking out a pass, an area Sanchez has yet to develop and actually struggles badly at. Foyth is raw, but has that ability, but wouldn't be surprised to see the Ake rumors appearing again. I just pray to all 7 gods, old and new, that no premiership team comes in for Toby, imagined him and van dyke at the back for pool?

I'm beginning to think Toby is at the very least staying this last year and then going on a free to the likes of Juventus or something next summer. The only CB we have consistently been linked to was this Andersen that's now agreed with Lyon. If we really were expecting to lose Toby this window we surely would have bought Andersen by now.
