Like I've said Lloris can be just as good as any Keeper in the world his high end spectrum is up there but can be a liability and a head scratch. I will add he's more a positive at this stage not because of the penalty save. We have more pressing areas to address.

Yea, it was fucking awful isnt it, that penalty

Hugo
Can fly like superman because the wind was blowing really hard that day
Can fly a plane because the plane has auto pilot function
Can lift a fucking bus because the bus somehow lifted itself due to overinflated air in the tyres
Can win a F1 race because Hamilton had a bad day
Can win a game of MMA against Mcgregor due to a fluke sucker punch

You sir, you are an utter disgrace.
Fuck off
Mate, dont bite Paolo plays by his own rules. He can criticize any player he wants, but youre the fake fan if you dare say anything negative about his precious Trippier.

Also no one today will talk about his excellent distribution.

I thought in the first half I thought Hugo was delaying the pass everyone knew he would make giving Arsenal a chance to press the pass. If he knows he is going to make the same is again and again just play the pass and give the defender more time to deal with it

But he was accurate and made the right choice.

He’s not winks or Eriksen and the stakes for a mistake are far higher. All keepers take a little longer to set themselves

I think you meant to say Trippier, let me fix this for you

A bit over the top.
Very happy and grateful for Lloris pen save today and numerous amazing saves over the years that have saved us.
But mine and other posters opinions about his erratic performance over the last 2 or so seasons are still vailed imo.
As I’ve has said several times in this thread Lloris is a keeper that makes great saves not a great keeper.

Lloris has consistently had respectable save percentage stats throughout his career, so your claim that he "is a keeper that makes great saves not a great keeper" isn't backed up by the stats.

Set pieces, distribution and dealing with shots at his near post are certainly not his strong points. No player is without weaknesses. Teddy Sheringham was slow, Kane doesn't get many assists, Modric doesn't score enough, Scholes couldn't tackle, van Nistelrooy only scored from inside the box, Makélélé only passed within 10 yards, Robben doesn't seem to realise he has a right foot etc. It is their ability to (more than) compensate for these weaknesses in other areas that makes them great, and Lloris accomplishes this.

A few years ago, I read a great article about Lloris that focused on stats for chances averted by 'sweeping'. Compared to other keepers in the top flight, he rushed outfield to intercept / close down the opposition the most frequently, yet also had the highest success rate for winning the ball in these situations (I believe it was about 95%, or 19/20). Therefore, the stats suggested he was the best sweeper keeper in the world.
The article highlighted how in many of these situations most keepers would stay in their goal and then attempt, but generally fail, to make a save. Lloris, on the other hand, prevented the shot from ever taking place. He gets it wrong a couple of times per season, but by staying in his goal to avoid these rare mistakes he would be forced to attempt numerous saves from close range / 1v1 situations, inevitably conceding a significant number of additional goals each season.

That's fair enough, and you've explained your stance really well. You've even had the class to admit you appreciate his performance today.

Shame all the other angry, abusive, non-supporting "Fucking sell Lloris & play Gazzaniga" crew can't show the same amount of class and pay credit where it's due.

This thread, the Trippier thread, the Eriksen thread. They're lively as fuck, and full of tough talking motherfuckers with huge bollocks when any of the players are making errors.

But when the player does something like today, those big bollocks have shriveled up & you just know full well that the tough talking motherfuckers are almost certainly sitting at home, actually feeling angry, because their target of ridicule and anger has let them down by doing something they have to accept as good.

Sad really.

Has Lloris just gone from never saving a penalty for us to saving two in a row?

Lloris Pen saves during his career with Spurs - so quite a few actually!
