Actually that video perfectly shows my slight worry about him. Looking at his highlights he has a high tendency to push the ball back into a dangerous area. While this triple save is impressive it should have never reached the point where he had to make it.

The first shot is not a particularly difficult one and if he cant catch it he needs to push it to safety not straight back out. It seems to be a pattern.

Maybe he can be coached out of it, still a young keeper and maybe his other qualities make up for it. But it's a worrying part of his game.

I quoted the clip for his reflexes interms of triple save. Especially the 2nd one.
You cant watch that and make an assessment that he always pushes it into middle.

If you look at Raya's compilations, you will also see time & again pushing into dangerous areas. Every keeper will do this, because sometimes you cant adjust. quick enough for a shot -especially if the ball is swerving.

"verbal agreement" and "awaiting bid" screams that this guy is our back up plan should we not get Raya. I'd never heard of him before this morning, so have no judgement on the situation, but no point getting wound up until we get a "Here we go!"

We’re likely playing a high line next season so the club goes out and signs a keeper that can’t use his feet and doesn’t leave his six yard box. Prioritising saving a few quid than actually addressing the issues at hand yet again. He’s blatantly a target left over from Paratici’s tenure that the club can get cheap. No other reason for bringing him in.

He might turn out to be decent. But Raya is a pretty sure bet, and the chances are we'll be looking for another keeper in a year's time and the total outlay on the two keepers will be more than what we could have just paid for Raya. Classic Levy.

Feels like we're just looking at players because they've got a year left on their contract rather than because they're the right fit for the team.

Di Marzio said that Raya is still our first choice.

Let's hope this is a final ploy to get them to lower their price 🙏

gozo on ftl, who seems to have watched him a fair bit (nb this was from the other day after pok mentioned him)
He's a good keeper. He'd probably be Italy's no.1 if it wasn't for Donnarumma.

better than meret?

Yes, I think so. It could be because every time I've seen Vicario play, he's had a lot more to do that when I watch Meret & Napoli. Meret is a great goalie, but I think he's got that Lloris-type brain fade moment in him.

good with his feet?
Not Ederson good, but pretty good.

100%. I don't think we need to be shitting the bed here. We don't know what's going on behind the scenes. Looks like Brentford are being dickheads over Raya and/or someone may be trying to overpay.

I'm as Levy out as anyone but this is a crucial position and we can't afford a long drawn out saga over Raya when there are alternatives.

I will reserve judgement on this.....

Where is this coming from Angie has to have an amazing passing keeper come from? The guy played with joe hart
Well to be fair we've been chasing Raya as our 1st goalkeeper target so I'd expect he'd want a keeper that is good with his feet.

Joe Hart is good with his feet in Scotland

Just wanted to add this, not that it matters from a footballing sense, but he was one of those who took in Ukrainian refugees last year. A good guy.

While this might be a ploy to get Brentford to lower their fee for Raya, I can't help but thing that he'll have plenty of suitors anyway, unless none of them are willing to pay the £40m that Brentford want.
