Seeing how well Son play as CF when Kane's out and how well Llorente's played lately I am no longer that worried about getting an understudy for Kane. Plus, Troy Parrott is waiting on the wings to prove himself (although I doubt he's ready for EPL time coming season but I love to be proven wrong) and should gradually be given playing time.
Quite a few names have been brought up as Kane's understudy but no young, talented CF with ambitions are going to join Spurs unless he's paid "silly" money, simply because they know's there's no way they're gonna play much unless Kane get injured a lot.
And quality CF costs a lot, so I'd rather spend the money on some pacey WF (preferably a left-footer) who can score goals. I know they also cost a lot but they'd be of more us as they will be playing when Kane's fit.

I think it's fair to say that like Sissokko, despite them both being poor up until this season, they have both fully warranted their respective transfer fees this season alone.

Llorente's hip alone warranted that transfer fee ;)

Ramming words back down peoples throats, AGAIN!!.

Some of you are, quite frankly, pathetic. The shit (hatred) that was being spewed in the match thread was pathetic & embarrassing.

"Sell the fucking lump".

"The slow **** just gets in the fucking way, take him off".... Etc etc etc.

And you have the cheek to call yourself 'supporters'.

He might not be as mobile as Kane but he puts himself in the right places and seems to come up some important goals.

Don’t really see any established player wanting to come and sit on the bench for most of the season as backup to Kane.

Next season I’d look to bring in a youngster but that would mean we need Llorente for another reason.

When he came on, given his somewhat lanky frame, I had a flashback to Crouchy and that moment at the Etihad and the pandemonium in the crowd and thought "imagine"....

I also told my brother at 1-1 "fuck me at this rate it's gonna finish 4-3".

I'm a prophet when I've not bet on a game. As soon as I stick a fiver on, Barca lose at home to fucking FC Chorizo.

I think everyone agrees Llorente was poor last night. He had 23 touches - the next lowest outfield players were Son and Moura with 63 touches each.

Nando can certainly play a role in the right game, but in a game against bus-parkers he is no stand-in for Kane (who would have dropped deep to try and make things happen). Do people still think we should stick with Llorente given his contribution in recent months, or should we be freeing up a slot in the squad? I guess it depends if we can find a more Kane-like backup striker (unlikely I know).

As has been discussed at great length, last night's setup did not suit either Nando, nor the players tasked with supplying him. He is a target man, and not an all round forward like Kane. Either set the team up to deliver crosses from deep to his head, or play Son through the middle.

The thing is, he's actually not very good at heading the ball.

That game didn't suit Llorente. Look at the number of crucial goals he has got and how he brings others into play. Brighton's defence nullified his strengths, but with Kane out he has proved a useful backup on more than one occasion. Look at our Champions League games.

Wait, there are people who want us to keep Llorente? Is it not blindingly obvious that he's completely unsuited to our style of play?

People can say the game didn't suit Llorente, but the fact is he was really poor when the ball did get to him. His touches and passing was absymal.

Happy for him to fill in till the end of the season, and he will always be remembered fondly for his goal against city, but hope we sell him and get a proper back up for Kane in the summer.

There is no way he should be in the squad next season.

With the exception of piss-poor lower league opposition, to me he seems at his best when we are up against it playing a team that is better than we are. He's also best coming off the bench to mix things up. Are those assets enough to use up a valuable (non-HG) squad spot on him?
