I’d worry if Lenglet is seen as first choice LCB, but if (as ITK suggests) we are in for Laporte and get him, Lenglet is a decent back up. I’d be quite happy with those as our two LCBs.

Laporte and Romero 1st choice
Lenglet and New Young CB backup
Dorrington and ROYAL emergency back up

Sounds good to me.

No thanks, thought he done ok at points during the season but he was a disaster down the final stretch of games. Even as a back up I wouldn’t be too enamoured if we signed him permanently

Sorry but how do you know ? Levy is no fool so he won’t be paying anymore than he has to in wages.

He's owed 20m by Barcelona.

If we are only coughing up 6m, that money has to be coming from somewhere.

He won't just leave it on the table.

Barca will want 26m if we aren't picking up the tab.

More likely is Levy will give him wages above what he can command elsewhere, so he makes it back over the course of this contract.

Would be an absolutely stupid signing. We have had him for a year and seen his limitations. Just leave him at Barca. It’s signing someone who doesn’t improve us

Sigh....this is clearly another cheap opportunistic buy from us. Lenglet didnt show me any reason as to why we should be making this move permanent.

The only reason I can see for this, is if there is going to be a cull of a lot of players, but he'd be signed as a backup to incoming CB options.

If he does come I just really really hope it's cos Ange is keen and feels he can work some magic on him rather than him being yet another cheap, compromise Levy club signing.

I do think he's probably better on the ball than we saw in Conte's rigid system last season, but hard to imagine him ever being an especially good defender in a high line...

He also didn't do a lot wrong either tbf. Steady CB with a good passing range as a back up to a top CB for a decent price . I don't see the issue.

Anybody who watched the Umtiti & Lenglet horror show for Barca knows that he really isnt that good. I hoped his obvious defensive deficiencies would be assuaged by his passing ability but even that seems to have gone to shit. Irrespective of how much he costs, we shouldnt sign hm imo.

As a cheap back up he would be fine. If as everyone wants we get rid of Sanchez, Dier, Davies, Tanganga, Rodon as well as Lenglet leaving then even bringing in two CBs won't be enough.

Having one who has been here a year already and doesn't need settling in would be a good move if it's a small fee.

I'd be fine with it.

This only makes sense if A) it's another loan and B) if he's a backup and plays over Dier, Sanchez, Tanganga etc.

Wouldn't be buying him personally. Maybe if it's something like a 2 year contract with extension option, a cheap fee and low ish wages. But I can't see Lenglet agreeing to that.

Dier would get a buyer, could see Everton fancying that. Rodon probably similar as a home grown player. Tanganga seems to be fancied in Italy for some reason.

I think Romero is going to push to leave this summer and could see us getting good money for him.
I can't see Dier being interested in a club that is also interested in him, personally. I think we're stuck with him for another year until his contract runs out. Would be Phil Jones-esque lunacy to offer him a new deal.

If the 6m fee is true then I’m not too fussed, as long as we get Laporte or another top CB and lenglet is happy enough as back up and it allows us to get rid of Sanchez, tanganga, rodon ect.

I think he is good enough for a squad role but we have so many in that position that we will struggle to shift. So it's a no from me

We only really want to keep Romero but it makes sense to keep Lenglet and sign 2 new CBs if we can move all the other shit****s off.

Think Laporte would be a dream and the other CB should be someone who's absolutely rapid and young

If we bring in Laporte, with his and Romero's injury issues, I want us to bring someone in that can cover both without too much of a drop off and since neither are that athletic, someone with a bit more pace would be perfect and Lenglet doesn't fit that. Crazy that we aren't in for Ndicka on a free and only wants 60k a week, he would be ideal and can cover LB.

4th choice, IMO, should be a younger player (Nathan Wood would be my choice).
