Joint between Eriksen, Vertonghen and Wanyama, Eriksen if I had to choose one though.

Had he not been injured, Rose would have been my shout.

Currently though I'd say Christian Eriksen. Improved so much, as well as doing it on a consistent basis.

However, so many names could easily have been picked. Which says a lot about the team's overall performance.

I think that does a disservice to Toby. It's much closer than that. I'd say Verts has edged it but it's not ridiculous to go in either direction.

No question for me anyway. Eriksen.
I really don't think it is close this season.

Last year Toby stood out like a sore thumb, he was more than head and shoulders the best defender in the league. He was a phenom. In part, I'd suggest that he stood out so much because Jan was out for so long, and there's been this cloud around Jan in regard to his attitude since Sherwood's days, though that's not to detract from Toby. Toby's performances last year earned him the tag of being the best CB, rightly so, but it's kind of coloured people's views of this season.

Again, I don't think Toby has been poor. But he hasn't been as good as last year, he has missed a large amount of games, and Jan has held a level of performance all year that is close to what Toby did last year. I think Toby is the better of the two overall, but anyone suggesting Toby has performed better this year, is either doing so because of bias or the influence of last season.

For me if its over the whole season then consistency is key. CE has been amazing the second half of the season and improved so much and really is on the verge of that step into the worldy bracket but early in the season that consistency was not there imo. He went missing in a lot of games early on. Jan has been phenomenal this year. Consistently good, stepping up when Toby was injured and showing true class but for me Victor has stepped into a new team and looked as though he had been playing for us for years and maintained that throughout the season. He has been our rock but also showing some brilliant passing and creative skills.

I do love how hard this is which is testament to the whole squad who have all done their part when called upon. Maybe there should be a button for the whole squad lol. But as I can only choose one it will be VW if I had to vote right now but is so close am going to wait until the last ball has been kicked to finally decide.

Vertonghen for me. Held our defence together when Toby was out and has been imperious in his play all season, Sunday being case in point.

I would have said Eriksen but he only really turned up from CFC away onwards. IF he was playing like that all season we would be talking of our first title in over 50 years right now as certainty......

Vertonghen for me, and that's after giving him some criticism prior to this season. Most of the others (barring Wanyama) didn't really get started until about December.

Eriksen for me. He had a fairly poor start to the season (by his standards at least) which coincidentally (or not!) was when the team wasn't performing well. However, since about November he's been absolutely brilliant and when he plays well, the whole team plays well.

About time Eriksen got the recognition he deserves. He's been like this for 2 years now, and in the second half of this season he has kicked onto the next level.

You're coming across as very bitter that some people are voting for Eriksen and not Jan.
Not at all. Just find it funny that we moan about the vote for the PFA awards not taking the whole season into consideration, then do the exact the same.

Think two players have made real cases for the player of the season, in terms of consistency across the entire campaign and that's Jan and Wanyama. Arguments can of course be made for many others, but I think only those two have performed at the level consistently across the entire campaign.

Could easily have been any of Eriksen, pre injury Rose, Dele, Verts, or Vic.

I went for Eriksen, then changed my mind to Verts as he has been consistent for the entire season.

I agree that consistency across the season is a big part of it, but if one player is slightly below par for a bit then phenomenal for a period of four months, driving us on towards a title race rather than a race for 4th, then that player has to be considered. That's why people are talking about Eriksen, because he's been the player that has epitomised our move into a different class.

Having said that I've gone for Wanyama because for me he's been at that top level all season. When we were bumbling around a bit before Christmas he was still shining in every game, and he's been equally adept at playing in any formation and has even started to contribute more going forwards.

Other than those two, Vertonghen and Alli have to be in contention. Alli's pure number of goals from midfield is inspiring, and Jan's defensive work, as well as his incredible ability to bring the ball out from the back with impressive effect, have made him a hugely important part of our success.

Overall it's nice to have such a huge number of options for this list (I haven't even mentioned Rose and Kane who have been excellent but dampened by injury). I don't think any one player stands out head and shoulders above the rest (in the same way that Ginola, Bale, Modric used to do) because we're an excellent team where everyone is doing their bit.

I don't think there is even a question about it. Vertonghen has easily been our best centre back this season. That's not to say Toby has been bad, but he was out for a long spell, and hasn't quite been as good as last year. Jan has been imperious all season long. Again, I think Toby is the better centre back all things considered, but that doesn't mean he's performed better than Jan this season.
I agree with you. For me we missed verts more than toby when they were missing respectively.

Yeah, I know why people are considering Eriksen. It's the same argument for Kane or Alli. Second half of the season all three have been incredible.

I cant really pick but went for Harry Kane because not many others were which shows you just how nuts this group of players has become

You could make a case for 7 or 8 players. What a fantastic TEAM

Could be a number of players and that is testament to how good we have been this season.

Immense.

Big Vic gets the nod for me, hes been superb, special mentions for Super Jan, Eriksen & Dele .cannot forget the boy wonder Sissoko for those imperious 3 minutes in the corner flag against palace.

COYS.
