What did you think people were going to disagree with then? To title a thread like this you have put people on the backfoot. If you give an impression based on that you'll have to be ready to explain yourself.
Fair enough. Maybe my title was misleading.

I was asking if people disagree putting champions league as a priority behind the premier league.

However my main concern is people replying without even reading the op.

I think i have explained myself adequately.

This is a insult to injury kind of thread after yesterday's performance. If the result yesterday had been different, I'm sure this thread had look different, too. Right now, this season, we are in the CL (stating the obvious). We've been talking about and aiming for it for half a decade. When the moment is finally there, and we line up 11 of the absolute strongest players, what we want to see is them playing as if in that moment, there is nothing more important. But the display was shambolic and the result depressing.

In light of that, a OP going on about how CL doesn't really matter the most this year and how it can matter more sometime in the future, (interspersed with some faulty logic), it's just a huge reminder of how inept we were in the first big test of the season. There is no glory in not trying. But the OP, in light of recent results, kind of make it sound to me that it's OK that the best players don't really get it going.

When you are in the CL, nothing else than your best matters. It's a freakin' important competition. We do our best, and our best needs to be THE best, no questions asked. We play like we want it. We play like defeating semi good CL teams is what we are born to do. For the fans, for fellow players, for the past and the future of the club. We are not going to win CL. But we must put in performances as if we think we can.

Not sure what part of that post was a load of bollocks. Unless it was the part where he referred to your original post?
Can you enlighten us as opposed to clicking "disagree" and saying "load of bollocks"?

Sorry, I meant we'll drop into the EL VIA the CL, e.g. go out of the competition early and find ourselves back in the EL this season - which would be a complete disaster.

I didn't mean drop into the EL via final league placings.

Interestingly I think this is all a moot point anyway since I don't think we have a chance of finishing in the top 4 this season.

Ah ok, I get you. Honestly doesn't bother me, I think if we have aspirations of being a top club- and we do -then coping with European competition (whichever one it is) is something we have to do, and in some ways for a club like us the Europa League presents less of a problem because we should be able to rotate with less cmpromise and criticism, I think for either competition, and by that, I don't mean the debacle we got last year against Dortmund, we need clever, well thought out rotation, using what is now a deeper squad Poch had helped shape, but the league should always be the top priority.

Hi, Deluded Romantic Fool. Pleased to meet ya (y)
Not so long ago our ceiling had been 7th in the league for far too long. Then, painfully, 5th. Then 4th. Last season we finished 3rd. That's quite a bit of progress in 10 years after 15 years of barely approaching it. Arsenal are working on a higher plain during that time. One that is closer to glory. But their last 10 years compared to the previous 15? We have gone from being in a completely different category to them to competing with them, albeit still falling just short. Isn't it nice to extend past them occasionally and still have solid evidence that we are progressing?

Come on BC. Be romantic with me

I'm completely with you with regards to us making progress over the last ten years but just not with the notion that that progress has taken us to higher "glory" that Arsenal have achieved in that time. There's only been a game or two under Ramos, some games under AVB and Pochettino that we've even managed to compete with them on the same pitch.

Quarters are still better than round of 16. But not as good as semis.

*snigger* Semis.

Start with the first sentence of the 2nd paragragh.

And then the 3rd paragraph is just terrible.

Aim to win every competition we are in and rotate the squad to keep everyone fresh and match fit.

Who says we can't win it? It will be very difficult to beat the top teams but if we don't try then we will not win anything. If we don't win anything the bigger teams will just get stronger and we will fall further behind.

And to think I thought you were putting people on the defensive with just the title...
Given that the 'WTF?' rating you gave me is a question let me answer. You started by expecting people to disagree with you then you label some of the answers a load of bollocks, etc. Doesn't seem particularly opened minded. Basically, 'I'm going to say something controversial' and then ignore everything said about it.

I see your 'WTF?' and raise you a 'WTP?'. What's the point?

It's funny that a lot of people are either not reading you posts or are struggling to understand your posts. The problem clearly lies with the readers/non-readers of the posts.
