He'll be off in the summer if we get an offer matching what we bought him for. He was bought under premise of playing for AVB and with Bale, both now gone, now he isn't getting game time. Clearly his heart isn't completely in it at tottenham for some reason or another. He clearly has talent, as shown on huge international stage and no doubt will be an asset for whatever team he plays for but just don't feel it will happen here. Hasn't warranted a starting place since the Adam injury, for what could be a multitude of reasons, and has, IMO, been rightfully displaced by the hard-working and ever improving Bentaleb. 4th choice cm for me ATM, behind Sandro, bentaleb, and siggy.[/quot

If be off if Siggy was in front of me

But isn't that the problem?

Wouldn't a run of games help him?
To an extent yes, but i'm not suggesting we drop him completely. Of course he has to feature relatively regularly because he's one of our better players. He just needs to be given another year to see if he can be more consistent.

If it's the same a year on then we can begin to question whether he was a good acquisition.

As others have said, after the performances Paulinho has put in this season he has no right whatsoever to be complaining about a lack of game time.

a lot think that he performs on another level for brazil but i still don't see it and i haven't seen it from day one. i can pull up a whole bunch of posts from myself which were heavily derided but they're looking all pretty spot on now. i wish he would prove me wrong but he has a blasé attitude and imo a very limited skillset.
He does seem to be a bit of enigma. At times he seems to lack basic technique and composure but sometimes he can pull off some fantastic tricks and flicks. He has talent but it's very much in flashes at the moment.

I think any other season I'd be inclined to agree with most of the comments on here; that he simply isn't putting in the effort

But this season I think we need to give the players the benefit of the doubt, considering it's been a tumultuous 8 months

Agree. Some of the things he's done (or hasn't done) on the football pitch this season have been very poor. I can forgive Dawson for being skinned by a tricky fast striker, or Naughton for poor control, but Paulinho has been on a different level in terms of sheer lack of effort from a defensive point of view. Not tracking runners, not tracking back, jogging when the opposition passes him.

He's had one really good half all season - against Stoke, where we saw glimpses of his talent in a spurs shirt, other than that, he hasn't deserved to play. If he wants to play in a position where we have a lot of good options, he needs to work for it. If he continues to display that level of effort, then whether he stays or goes, he'll never reach the top.

Having said that, I do believe he might need a little more time. We're giving it to Lamela, so Paulinho deserves the same.

"The language is the most complicated thing as I am lazy about studying. I am learning little by little, but I don't understand everything."

Even fucking lazier on the pitch. I have been watching him closely all season and he started shirking his defensive work back in September and a couple of months later had got to the point of barely doing any at all.

What's more scary is that some people it seems still want him selected. This isn't someone who is just playing a bit poorly, it is a guy who is just phoning it in every time he steps out on the pitch. Yeah he'll lurk around the penalty box and eventually stick one in the net but the other 99% of the time he does fuck all and watches as the game unfolds in front of him. Shouldn't be tolerated.

Firstly Paulino had a good game then got injured, secondly he has had a lot of shocking games where he has been anonymous, or poor in possession poor first touch. I think he will come good but I am not sure what he is good at just yet.

As much as I think he is a top player he has not delivered to his potential and would take our money back on him...build around eriksen and get Dembele motivated

Use him as a make weight in a deal for Strootman when LVG comes in :)

TBH I don't think we need to use him as a makeweight for anyone. Sell him and Dembele, replace them with Bentaleb and Holtby who both know what "pass and move" means.

Not a single fuck would be given by me if this guy decides to move on in the summer. Here's hoping he has a good World Cup so we can get our money back. One of the laziest players to play for us in quite some time.

We should technically be able to make a profit. I think this signing was commercially driven

My take exactly, and well said.

This is why I love Siggy so much, even when he isn't having the best of games he always runs his bollocks off and gives 100%. Good goal threat, good passing ability and hassles and harries opposition in defence. Starts over Paulinho every day for me.

Still disappointed we didn't go for Strootman, likes to get forward and does the defensive stuff really well too.

I have also been wondering how an Algerie U21 player gets the nod ahead of a Brazil international. One of my main gripes with Tim. It doesnt make sense.

Look how Paulinho has performed under 2 different managers and it makes perfect sense. As for being Brazilian international, so was Gilberto, remember him?

Regarding all our more expensive summer signings, Paulinho looks most likely to be a flop. Played at Lithunia and Poland early on his career without catching eye of bigger European teams. Can understand why.

I dont know who youve been watching, yes Paul has been lazy and wouldnt get in the team at he moment, nor would Siggy.
Most of his performances have been dire, good second half against Southampton, but thats about it.
Pops up with odd goal, so does paul funnily enough.

I can kind of understand his point when Bentaleb is starting nearly every game. Paulinho is definitely better than him by a good distance and can play basically the same role.
