I wonder if we could do an obligation to buy if he makes x amount of appearances. I mean if he is involved in as many games as he was for Roma last season I'm sure we would be more willing to sign him. The fact he's gone a full season without any serious injuries suggests its not so risky. If he get through another season without then make it permanent.
Why would Roma agree to that?

I’ve honestly never seen him play other than the ECL final.

Seeing people struggling to identify many strengths, those for and against Zaniolo, but noting his size and ability to pick up multiple positions, would it be fair to compare him to Havertz at all?

Havertz doesn’t seem to have any standout traits but his size and ability to pop up everywhere causes problems and he scores a few goals from it and wondering if it is remotely comparable?

He has the highest booking rate and commits close to the most fouls per 90 of ANY FORWARD in the entirety of Europe's top 5 leagues lol. He has some anger issues.

Well lookey here, a player who takes no shit.

Why on earth would we want one of them in a Conte side?

We were not all willing to take a risk on Adama. Some of us didn't want to touch him with a barge pole. It's not relevant here though as they are totally different players.
Disagree with your last point here. They might not look the same in the way they do it, but they both achieve the exact same things on the pitch. Both players are just complete specialists when it comes to shot creating actions off of dribbles. Both then are lacking in other parts of their game, i.e. passing

The problem we’re having getting rid of Lo Celso, Regullion etc is supposedly European clubs don’t have any money so only offer 15 -20 million for players we paid double that for. Given that scenario, despite the fact that I think Zaniolo could be a good player for us, I’m a bit reluctant to pay 50M Euros for him because if it doesn’t work out no one in the PL( which is the only League with any money) is going to buy him and nobody in Europe will be able to afford him.
It’s a bit of a Catch 22. European clubs demand top dollar from us for their players cos we’re “rich” but will plead poverty and offer low fees when trying to buy our players. Until they fully recover from the financial effects of the pandemic we’re better buying players from the domestic leagues. As it is the PL is subsiding European Clubs.

With Romero in the side too, will be interesting to see what our plan is when we inevitably go down to 10 men

Love the arguments and speculation in here. No one can agree on whether or not he’s any good. ?

One thing that is apparent is they want loan + obligation and a definite sale (as oppose to option). Why they so keen to get rid?

Who knows? but it doesn't have to be a negative. He's a saleable asset and they need the money? Jose has prioritised building the team elsewhere? Could have said the same about Kulusevski.

We are selling Reguillon and LoCelso, possibly Emerson and all are good players who can do a top job for someone. Reggy and Royal just don't fit how Conte wants to play and LoCelso shines for Argentina (and in Spain) but Conte just doesn't fancy him.

There are lots of reasons clubs sell good players and they want a guaranteed deal ie. either permanent or obligation so they know where they are with the funds.

Not sure about the 50m euro price tag and if he is worth that but a loan with an obligation would probably suit as Moura will most likely leave before start of next season and Zaniolo would be the potential replacement.

Because they have reinforced, need the money to balance and finally every player has a price to sell..besides, anothe forward is coming in, Belotti.

Maddison is valued at over £75M , Chelsea bought Cucurella for £60M. Fofana is quoted at £80M +. When you buy from your domestic rivals the prices are high, when you buy from a board there's a EPL premium we all know this. If you want to play with the big boys you better have deep pockets, hope your scoutings on point otherwise jog on.

The alternative route we've basically been on is hope to unearthed the next gems over time the latest being Papa Sarr and Djed Spence along with promotion within our development teams Skipp Tanganga Winks Kane KWP.

Note buying players will always be a risk Ndombele Lo Celso Reg have been costly however we've countered that imo with Kulu Romero and Bentancur.

If you take his knees out of the equation he is absolutely a 50 million euro player in todays market - comfortably even, and if we're going to sign him we can't sit in fear of his knees we just have to enjoy the ride

Just an idea (hope Don Paratici & Levy are reading to this forum).. considering Roma wants 50mio and say Nicolo is fit.. Wouldn't it then make sense to agree 35mio fixed + 15mio addons based purely on his fitness/injuries? So no any addon related to success, goals etc. but purely on whether he's available to play.
