any smart manager would have reservations about working with DL at the moment. the lack of resolution with FP makes it all the more uncertain coming here. One would think that given the current news, the smartest thing the club could do would be to release FPvia mutual consent so he could fight these "outrageous charges always having an open door for his return". And then go out and hire a DOF that would attract a top notch coach. I rather like the angle others have suggested of Rangnick/JN but that would be like winning the lottery. but unless that happens quickly, we may be in for a rough ride but given the length of the potenital list and number of quality candidates, it still could work out. (Gallardo rises to the top?)

Apologies if already posted but…push and run!
The more i see of Slot, the more impressive it gets. Love him to reunite with Koopmeiners again. Was brilliant for him. He's getting higher and higher up my list, and like Trix said. More realistic.

Did anyone find out about the reliability/credibility of the Niko Kovac links? Seemed very odd.

There are no links.

A journalist did a Google search for a manager who had previously said he'd never leave his club mid-contract.

They found one.

It was Kovac.

Then they wrote a piece of shite for clicks.

And now the feeble-minded amongst us are going 'oh, look, there's another manager who's turned us down, lol'.

And while we continue to click and revel in Spurs-related misery, the articles will continue to be produced.

'Vincenzo Italiano once said he couldn't trust anyone under 5ft 8in? Fire up the computer. There's another article on its way.'

Et cetera

Ad nauseam

With Levy supposedly in Asia currently and this whole Paratici debacle I very much doubt we will hear anything about a new manager any time soon. And like I said, if I was a potential candidate I’d certainly need to be convinced that things will improve going forward. The club look an absolute mess atm.

Yea honestly who in their right mind would take the job right now?

Any decent manager with any sense would steer well clear.

The only thing is that for some managers it is their absolute dream to manage in the premier league and also we pay our managers very well so based on that we should be able to attract someone half decent but really if they have any sense and take one look at the mess we are in and the lack of direction under Levy they’d say thanks but no thanks.

I might be wrong here but I thought we had ITK a while back basically saying that both Potter and Rodgers turned our approach down because they didn’t want to work with Levy and didn’t feel we had a stable plan.

I can see many other decent candidates now saying the same.

Fwiw I just have this nagging feeling that we will end up with Glasner or Galtier. Really hope I’m wrong.

They feel very much like Paratici targets, and his chances of remaining look inevitably low.

Would love Nagelsmann but will get a better offer, De Zerbi will stay if Brighton reach Europe.

Looking more likely Slot, Poch, or Big Ange.

I've said from day one, if Levy gets his way he will appoint Poch to appease fans. Would not be slightest bit surprised if he overrules everyone and gets Poch in before end of season.

As much as we are a shambles at the moment, and it could get worse, it could also improve substantially with a quality manager and quality Dof in short order. AC wasn't getting the best out of this team tactically nor man management wise. A new coach could do the man management in a few games. Our existing coaches could do it immediately if they reverse hard on ACs flawed strategy. 4th is still a tall order but possible.

longer-term, we are 3 to 5 players and whole bunch of practices for a system that caters to our player's strengths away. but it isn't years away. Sonny is a basket case mentally. he isn't done. he may not be peak Sonny. multiply that by the number of players who have gone backwards this last year and you still have the makings of a good side with quality additions. As we all know, and that is why the dof is crucial at this moment

It's just one big mess.
How are we supposed to be conducting a manager search with no DoF and a DoF search with a clueless chairman?

This is going to be a long and uncomfortable journey.

Still don’t know why so many people think a DOF is so vital. Managers like Poch do t want one they want to shape the playing strategy of the whole club. Sure the managers like JM and AC don’t care about anything but the first team but in that case the only job the DOF does is to get them exactly what they want - others suggestions fall in deaf ears. At Spurs we have got more infrastructure than we had five years ago and less clarity with little in the way of positive results.

Despite Spurs being my true love (sorry to the mrs) I follow Celtic also (due to family and my Irish roots etc).

This is the type of bloke I want in charge of my club....as well as being a good coach and playing good football, he's a decent guy.

After the last few years I really think he could be the type to galvanise the club/fan base and be a success.
(Although Nagelsmann would be my 1st choice).

EDIT - just read the comments on that YouTube video to see the impact he's had on the club.

Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but Ange is out of contract at the end of the season.

Like you say I think there will certainly be managers out there that would jump at the chance regardless of what’s going on behind the scenes but will they be managers we actually want?

Any respectable name would probably be incredibly concerned by the apparent lack of direction by the board along with how things ended for our last 4 managers. Maybe there’s a chance they can be convinced but I’d also be very cautious about taking on such a job. What happened with Paratici over the last 24 hours just makes us look incredibly amateur and completely out of our depth. The stadium and training ground plus some of the players will no doubt be an attractive proposition but I think it’s pretty clear to everyone that it doesn’t really matter as long as the club is run how it is.

Levy has a monumental task ahead of him to convince whoever we want to come imo. If that’s JN, Gallardo or even Slot, any intelligent manager will quite possibly view us a poisoned chalice currently, and why would anyone want to climb aboard a sinking ship and potentially taint themselves in the process. It’s imperative that Levy and the board act swiftly to fix this whilst it’s still remotely salvageable.
