Kane has already proven himself in the Championship so loaning him to League One would be pointless and insulting.

Nakhi Wells will be 23 in a month and has never performed at a higher standard than League 2.

hmm thought wells was 19. that's what my city mates say. just a thought anyway

A less expensive option would be to keep Adebayor but just pay him 50k a week more than now and then increase this incrementally by say 10k per month throughout the season. He always seems to raise his game whenever there is a new contract/filthy lucre involved and this option could perhaps keep him interested enough to score some fucking goals.

We should be going all out for Soldado.

He's perfect in every way for us.

Yup, he's the one. Strong, quick, not the tallest (5ft11?) but great hold up play and link play, works his nuts off, scores all kinds of goal including with his head and he's technically very good too.

Personally, I don't actually believe the stories behind us being close to these massive-price players (and I don't want Leandro anyway as I don't think he's good enough) - I think we might make token enquiries and make a last-minute offer of £3.57, a packet of crisps, and a 5p off a litre of fuel when you spend £50 at Tesco's voucher - knowing our bids will be rejected but making it look good publicly.

.

unproven sure...but not good enough? Why do you think that?

How about Kone anyone? He seems to have it all going on. Worth tossing into the mix.

He's 30 so it's a sticking plaster - but equally he won't be expensive? ANd there isn't an African C o Nations next season so he'll be available all season...

Whether Wigan go down or not they are usually open to offers. Probably the only reason they struggle is that each year Roberto M has to surgically implant a few more into his way of thinking.

Just because I've yet to see anything from him (in the handful of performances I've seen, or the stats I've looked at) to suggest that he would be good enough to become a £20m, line-leading, super striker. He's quite ponderous and plays in a league where the defending is League 1 standard at best. If he was really worth the fees we've been seeing he should be banging them in for fun.

I'd rather have Osvaldo or Soldado for less money and I think they're better players.

Agree x10.

20m seems alot for striker who has never looked particularly impressive or mobile whenever i have watched him.

And why are there so few teams of note interested?

Been saying it for seasons now!! Soldado would be great, Id be over the moon. Unfortunately I dont think he would leave Spain or even Valencia unless he was pushed, in every interview I see with him he clearly loves the club.

How about Higuain?

http://www1.skysports.com/football/...o-sell-Gonzalo-Higuain-but-keep-Karim-Benzema

Real Madrid have confirmed he's leaving. Can't think that there are too many options for him.

Dortmund if they sell Lewandowski? Not really their style to pick up established players on high wages.

PSG maybe? Would play second fiddle to Ibra.

Le Arse might fancy him. But surely if we were in for him, Madrid wouldn't want to upset their chances of getting Bale by selling to our rivals.

Chelsea? Look to be after Falcao.

Can we afford Higuain's wages? I'd say only if we can ship off Ade.

I dont think any of us have seen enough of him to regard him as anything other than an unknown to be honest. several top quality players often look average to shit when you see them in a handful of international friendlies.

Sandro probably wasn't pulling up any trees in the brazillian league at the time, nor was he playing in the main brazil team (U21) But our scouts saw something in him, it took a while for him to show his quality to us supporters but now look at him.

sometimes you've just got to roll the hard six and take a punt on Leandro. If our management team seem to think he is worth the 15 to 19 million or so we are haggling for then who knows. I just hope it's an AVB certified purchase if it happens.

and his stats arent bad really:

2 goals and 1 assist in 5 games for Brazil this year

17 goals and and 5 assists in 32 league games this season

28 goals and 8 assists in 37 league games last season.

sure the defending may be of a poorer standard but that doesnt seem to have halted Oscar too much

There's something about Higuain that reminds me of Pav. Good finisher, but a bit of an unremarkable physical specimen.

I'd bloody love Michu - just oozes class. I am more and more impressed with Benteke too every time I see him.. But out of teh three A&C mentioned you just know it'll be Remy. £8m compared to at least £15m for each of the other two. Remy plus one maybe?

This is what I want, someone who works like Alan Smith did when he was at Leeds, or Kevin Doyle at Wolves a couple of years back. Stick him in a front 3 with Bale and perhaps Son from Hamburg, Aubameyang or even Remy and I think we've got a cracking front line.

Mind you, this time last year I'd have been more than happy with a 3 of Bale, Adebayor and VDV.

Something tells me we will try for Benteke and then somehow on deadline day it will be Carroll. What - you say? Carroll? I actually think he would work well in a 4-3-3.

I think there's definitely two sides to the Leandro arguement, i think your post sums up one side very well. Ultimately you're spot on in stating that in terms of whether he'll be a hit or a miss, it's a complete unknown.

I'm not sure the stats add as much weight to the arguement compared to what our scouts must have seen/built up on him over these past couple of years. Ultimately it boils down to a) do we think he has the tools/technical abilities to improve our initial investment and also deliver in a stronger league - and b) how much do we feel these tools are worth now and how much are we willing to gamble on the improvement.

I would bet that my first point from a Spurs perspective is probably a yes. We wouldn't still be going round the houses on this if we didn't feel he was capable of being a future player for us.

The clear sticking point here is the price and where the other arguement becomes more valid. Is he worth what inter are looking for and can that money be better spent elsewhere? IMO for what it's worth i would say that we could definitely do better with similar or less money at this stage BUT in terms of the next 5 years or more, will these players continue to develop/deliver in the same way that the longer term punt on Leandro will?

Levy's business mind has clearly ensured this has taken longer than a Man City/PSG deal would but ultimately i'm pleased he's the man at the helm of this. Ensuring we get the right deal, at the right money, payable at the right time is where he really shines. I at least hope that if we do take a punt on him, that we should at least be in a strong position on the deal.
