I'm aware of the 'Poch has been confirmed as manager thread' so perhaps this post should be lumped in there, but I think that now we're almost one and a half seasons into his reign it's time to devote a new thread to how the man's getting along. Mods - do your thing if you feel the need!

The general consensus on here seems to be one of happiness that we're somewhat 'slipping under the radar' and not getting too carried away. That whilst the press are hyping and fantasising about the likes of Klopp and Liverpool, it's important for us and Poch to quietly continue to improve without heaping more pressure onto the team and creating those delusions of grandeur that we're supposedly famous for. I totally agree with this and think it's important for us to remain level headed. BUT.....I am starting to get seriously excited about what this man has achieved to date.

I'm not taking anything away from the performances of our players, they have been superb. But I can't escape the feeling that without Poch and his 'philosophy' (urghh, horrible term) that he has implemented, we wouldn't be anywhere near as exciting as we're starting to look. The drastic improvements in performance levels from the likes of Walker, Dembele, Lamela, Vertonghen etc. are not coincidental. The fitness levels of the entire squad is frightening. The high-press is not allowing the opposition a second to compose themselves on the ball and it's injected a fire and passion and fight into the team that I've not seen in 30 years of watching Spurs.

The thing that has almost surprised me the most, is how much more I love the squad than even under Redknapp. As incredible as that period was, it never felt sustainable. It feels like Poch is instilling a club-wide ethos that is perhaps capable of bettering those days and for longer.

I have to admit, I was very much on the fence when he signed for us. I was still there after the first season. But things are starting to look pretty rosy from where I'm sat.

Let me repeat, I know the season is long and that things can change very quickly so it's important to try and keep that level head. But I've had a few beers and just watched us smash those bastards down the road so that's not easy.
