Fair point but we do seem very often to buy seemingly cheap players who play in positions which we are saturated in, play them out of position here and there then sell them on after a couple of years of obscurity for a very tiny profit.

I agree to a point but If he was good enough he would still be here

Was just a joke mate, you need to lighter up a bit[/QUOTE]

Thanks for the advice.

There are an awful lot of people that complain that Enic are fleecing the club and taking money out all over the place and the reality is they haven't got a clue. Yes they may be in it for the long term final pay off, but his crap about them lining their own pockets is just made up propaganda just because some don't like Enic's transfer policy. The clubs accounts are absolute proof of this!

I agree, I think 5/7th in the league is about where we should be in terms of fan base, size of stadium and finances but the money we get from holtby will not be going towards MS and rightly so unless they start valuing him sensibly in the 14/17m bracket

I get the impression that Poch like him as Holtby was on the bench for our first games ahead of Lennon or Townsend. I think it just came down to the fact Holtby wanted to play every game rather than just be a squad player, which is fair enough.

€5m profit on him is pretty good though. We all talk about how he want to sign players that make a difference, then we need to maximise profit on players that have shown they can't.

He's fairly talented, but not the kind of player who can play a disciplined role in a system. I think that's why our managers haven't fancied him.

I'm not massively bothered about losing him. Top guy though, and I wish him the best.

Yep....thing stuck me as a personal decision by Holtby.

Singed for us on the cheap at the prospect of being an emerging player for an emerging club.

We end up bringing in Eriksen who pushes Holtby down the pecking order, then sack AVB, Tim sends him off on loan....Poch comes in and seems to like him but seems likely that he will be a squad player behind the likes of Eriksen and Lamela at CAM (and a group of players at the deeper roles) and Holtby may have just wanted to move somewhere he would be playing regularly.

At HSV he will be one of the focal points, and it is in Germany....he may not have a realistic chance of beating out any of the group of centre mids (barring injury or a massive jump in form by LH) for a spot on the German national team but i am sure he would at least like to try and do so, being the focal point for a German team may get him enough recognition to at least get him a call up or two.

This pretty much sums it up, in the thick of the action he would lose composure and just chase around and do his own thing.

There may have been a place for him as an alternative for Eriksen/Lamela, but he seems to be someone who wants to play every week and has been quick to go out on loan when others may have stuck it out and bided there time.

The cheap fee that we got him for and obvious profit to be made would also come into the mix I imagine...

As I have said things haven't changed.
Haha I know, I just wasn't sure if he actually wanted to join us or not in the first place? I'm unsure if this is/has been his intention for a while? as he continues to get match fit etc. I know he rejected a new contract with the saints, just wondered what his plan was, if he has mentioned to anyone etc that he wants to join Poch at Spurs.
