Bollocks. Sherwood started him in his first league game. AVB hung him out to dry at The Etihad.

Massive difference.

Getting really fucked off with people inferring there is some sort of race element going on here and that it's only because Lennon speaks English that he gets in the side.
Don't let them grind you down. I think most of us know that the racist element is the other way around. Tim's no good because he's English... Azza and Andros the same...

AVB showed more faith in Lamela than Sherwood has thus far.

Sherwood has played Lamela in every game he's been available in the league. Can hardly say the same for AVB. Unlike some, I'm not joining the mysterious injury brigade that say Sherwood just doesn't like him.

Question - would you swap Lamela for Mata now?
Never in a million years.
Mata is a fantastic player, but Lamela is a talent like no other.
All those saying lets get rid are the ones who would have flogged Bale, Ronaldo, Modric etc, etc.
Lamela has the talent to be up there with the above mentioned players.
Hopefully Tim will give Lamela a run of games and then we can come back here and laugh at some these posts.

I figured it would be a mixed bag of opinions. Mata is a proven top EPL player, who is still relatively young. Last season he was exceptional in what was a poor Chelsea side by their standards. Lamela on the other hand has infinite potential, but there is always that chance that he won't fulfill it in England.

Never.

Integrate lamela properly over a season and the following season you have a phenomenon on your hands.

The way he's been handled here from the start is a fucking sin.

Players of such quality and potential will look at this club as a death-trap for their careers.

To go from what he was doing at Roma to coming here and being treated like a flop before he's even got going is a fucking disgrace and the football gods WILL have their wraith! Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Mata is pure class and used to have a great understanding with soldado at Valencia , mourinho I is a fool if he sells him Chelsea's best player by far, but I would stick with lamela as he is more versatile and has great potential, we have eriksenn so def don't need mata

Hope so. Because we're already laughing at half of yours.

The only people really treating him as a flop are the media. They're always quick to label flops if they don't have an instant impact. Lamela was always going to be a bit of a cagey one. He was never suited to AVB's slow build up football and he's clearly a bit or a soft lad as well.

He'll grow, mature and I'm sure he'll do well. But I really don't get some of the posters on here giving Sherwood shit for not playing him when A, he's been injured and B, Lennon has been playing well and C, he represents a bit of a risk at the moment.

I am asking if the better options you speak of are being placed in the first team because of what I wrote originally. I stated that the whole settle/language debate it bogus.

I think Lennon is currently playing well. It's not like he's playing absolutely atrociously and we need to get Lamela fit and shoe-horned into the side ASAP.

Physio Rooms still has him down as hip/thigh and expects him back for 29th Jan.

I daresay it'll be Sherwood's fault if he doesn't play against City though!

Absolutely stunned that people wouldn't swap Lamela for Mata. Its not like Mata is an old man on the decline. Last season he was only behind Bale, RVP and Suarez as the best player in league imo.

I don't think anyone is really saying they wouldn't want Mata to play for us. But if hypothetically we did a swap, and then heaven forbid Chelsea actually played Lamela and he realised his potential, then we would be a tiny bit irritated. Swap Lennon or Siggy (or both) for Mata if an imaginary swap has to happen.
