Better defensively. Some numpty is going to criticize him for playing too many long balls down the line, but Arsenal squeezed up on Lennon, and pressured our fullbacks, there was no-one in midfield like Modric who always demanded the ball in tight situations.

It's a shame some fans are so quick to stick the knife in rather than having a little bit of patience and accept that he's a young player learning the trade and therefore wont always be consistent. That run early on in the first half was just brutal and he almost had a chance to score from it.

This is 100% true. We need Dembele to make himself available more in those situations.

Definitely not Kyle's fault.

Althought I don't think he's having a good a season as he did last, it's because he set such a high standard after last season that any bad performance and he will be blasted by fickle fans.

Mr Walker.

He's had a really rough time this season and being young with a massive confidence hit can be a really trying time. Up comes the NLD. One of two matches per season where a Tottenham player simply can't screw up.

I thought he was very good today. No where near his peak from last season but definitely a couple of levels up from his typical performance this season. Plenty of action for him today and his positional play, tactical awareness and tackles were brilliant today. Very much a part of the back 5 that won us the game today.

Agreed, he had a good day today. Seemed really cool and calm at all times. I know he has his knockers (BC) but I like having him in the team. He is still so young and has so much potential. Another potentially great member of our squad.

I think he's be a bit harshly treated this season, and since December has looked good.

We're performing at such a high level these days that sometimes players can end up being scapegoated slightly unfairly.

Anyway, think his positioning was good today, he doesn't get beaten often on the deck and is a willing runner.

One thing i've noticed in recent weeks, (though haven't checked today) is that more has been coming via Verts or Benny and so Walker has been more of a 3rd defender with the two CB's than he's been previously...

Great stuff from Walker today.... He's only 22 years old

What was Dani Alves doing when he was 22.

Said the same myself. He was very good today, dealt with everyting very competently. Looked assured and confident, and actually looked comfortable defending.

I agree. He does deserve a spesh mench, but not to the extent that we have multiple threads saying so ;)

Threads duly merged, along with a prediction that our next defeat brings several 'Walker is shit' threads from the KJM's.

If i had twitter id tweet him something like that, i bet when he plays bad he gets mega slagged off (didnt he quit twitter at one point because of it?) but i doubt he gets the same amount of praise from fans directly on twitter when he plays well.

Not anyones fault though, the happy and content are quiet while the angry are loud and extreme.

He did indeed play well today and kept Cazorla quiet the whole game.
Apparently he tweeted that he was in bed, sick, just up until the game and was back in bed again just after the game, not feeling well.
