Ability maybe, but suitability for the role I’d say not.

I like and rate Royal and Davies, but they’re not wing backs.
What exactly do you think KWP is better at than either of them?

The way I see it:

Speed - better
Dribbling - ? (I'm not convinced he's technically better - just quicker)
Offensive positioning - ? (I'm not convinced he's better)

First touch - worse
Passing - worse
Crossing - worse
Tactical awareness - worse
Tackling - worse
Interceptions - worse
1v1 defending - worse
Marking - worse
Aerial duels - worse
Defensive positioning - worse
Defending set pieces - worse
Threat on attacking set pieces - worse

I think KWP is a 5/10 wingback and a 4/10 fullback, while Emerson & Davies are 5/10 at wingback and 7/10 at fullback.
(5/10 being average for PL, rather than bad)

Might be misremembering but I always thought he was solid in his handful of appearances for the first team. He has gone away and developed further. If we were to bring him back, then it is another HG club trained player (and yes this thinking does have to come in to it).

Think KWP is being done a disservice in here.
His dribbling in tight areas is excellent as is his passing.
Has real confidence on and with the ball.
He's not the quickest but is very good one on one in an attacking sense as he draws players in and as he can go both ways he is good at throwing a dummy and going the other way.

I thought we were being forced to sign him.

Get him back. I’m sure there would a clause in the contract so we get him on the cheap. His early games for us I remember watching and was quite impressed (Newcastle debut?).

Didn't he once give 3 assists in a half? I guess it was at Wembley

I think he has gotten better at Southampton, but I think his value to us is that he is both homegrown and trained at the club, I think that there is some clause that we need club-trained players for European competition right?

If he comes in, he would be 3rd choice RB. not sure he will be interested.

He’s technically great and I’ve thought from the age of 17 he was a sure thing to make it as a PL player, same as I have with Devine. But he’s not good enough for us in exactly the same way Winks isn’t. I don’t think he’s good enough to handle the physicality of the PL and come out the other side of it as a top player, same for Winks. Yeah KWP looks way better in the championship in aspects that he looked suspect in the PL like decision making and keeping his bottle under pressure but it’s a lower level, he should do. It’s a gamble that I don’t think would pay off, unless he’s very cheap I just wouldn’t think he’s worth it.
