Kaboul Pondering Future

Younes Kaboul is considering his future at Tottenham after dropping down the pecking order at White Hart Lane.

The highly-rated Frenchman has struggled to command a regular place in the Spurs starting XI since the arrival of Juande Ramos.

Spurs pulled off something of coup when signing Kaboul from Auxerre last summer, but the central defender has endured a mixed time in North London.

A number of clubs are thought to be monitoring Kaboul's situation and could make a move for the French Under 21 international if Spurs decide to offload him.

Kaboul's agent, Rudy Raba has confirmed the player is weighing up his future as he is keen to be playing on a regular basis.

"Younes is happy at Tottenham, but the only problem at the minute is that he is not playing enough," Raba told skysports.com.

"His first priority is to stay and fight for his place unless Spurs decide to sell him.

"He was bought by Martin Jol and then Juande Ramos comes in and he has not played under him that much.

"It is his first season in England and he has made a few mistakes, but you do not become a bad player overnight."

Portsmouth have been linked with a possible move for Kaboul and Raba admits Fratton Park would be an attractive proposition for the 22-year-old if the situation if a move did come about.

"Portsmouth were interested in Younes before he signed for Tottenham and it would be an interesting destination for him as they have a lot of French players there," added Raba.

"I know a lot of clubs would like to sign Younes if he became available with Lyon, Marseille, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Lazio all interested in him."

agreed - i see some potential there and strongly believe he'll be a far better player than dawson in the long run. if only there were a betfair market for it :)

Kaboul will be the best centre back in the world in the future. Mark my words (only if it happens).

Weird he doesnt even feature for the ressies or KPB for that matter. i thought it was a case of Juande saying to them both you have potential but you have played enough this season. I think a game like Wigan last Saturday he may as well have played rather than playing Zoko there. He defo has potential

Another slightly annoying thing recently. Surely these last few games would have been an ideal time to give Kaboul a run out next to Woodgate. The ideal oportunity for him to learn without too much at stake.

it baffles me why he didn't play instead of Zoko at CB - but hey

interesting the agent says Jol bought him - I thought he was a Comolli purchase

Just checked on Physio Room and it says Kaboul has a knee injury and return date is this Saturday.

Deserves a chance this weekend, we all know what Dawson is capable of, give the lad a chance.

Kaboul was crucial coming on against Chelsea in the CC Final. I was worried, as I'm sure many were, that we would be inviting too much pressure, but Kaboul dealt brilliantly with everything thrown at him.

It seems odd to me he (or his agent) would be moaning about his lack of games, considering he was supposedly bought as one for the future and it had seemed he got too many games too soon (or before he was deemed ready) thrown into the deep end some what and this is why he struggled.

Does this talk suggest he was under the impression he was brought in as a first team player? if not why would he be concerned about a lack of first team action (if he was always meant to be learning with a view to be coming first team player in the years to come)

Maybe he is more concerned about where he stands under the new manager. A man who may well have his own central defenders in mind and push Kaboul further down the pecking order or even out the door.

I would hate to let him go without him having the time to develop and show what he is worth, mostly because we would be unlikely to even get half of what we paid for him at this current time.

i'm sure that he, like the rest of our players, will benefit hugely from a fcuk-off huge preseason with ramos and alvarez, and i'm sure he'll return twice the player he was this season.

i too agree that this stage of the season would be a great time to play him some more

Agreed. Even after Ramos came and he started playing less, he came out to say that he was fine with playing less as he felt he has already played plenty this season and didn't expect to play as much as he did so to come out and contradict himself now is odd indeed.

I hope we keep him as well as he is potentially a much better player than Dawson.

I'd like to see him stay too. He looks solid enough. He needs to tighten up a bit but he has all the attributes to be a very good defender, even world class given time & development. His Ariel threat in the box is also very good and he is capable of scoring many goals from this. Really hope he stays at the Lane!

I agree with everyone who wants to keep him. He has the potential to be very good. Lets see if we can get him there, eh?
