Don’t think it’s quite that simple. The teams they are battling with (gladbach and Frankfurt) play Bayern and Dortmund on Saturday (both with something to play for) while Leverkeusen play Hertha. Leverkeusen are in the drivers seat if they don’t slip up.

There's always one deal that on paper looks perfect for the club and yet we never even seem in the race. For me this season, this is that deal.

He's been playing more centrally this season and has looked great but can also play out-wide giving us a lot of flexibility.

Agree. This and Daniel James. Both are 2017 prices and would improve our squad!

Interesting that he's played with Sonny before; even replaced Sonny as a sub for his first appearance when he was 17:

Eriksen replacement, plus change to spend?

I wonder how true this 21 million release clause is?

I only say that because I’d imagine far more teams would be after him if it were true.

Out of all the names we have been linked with recently, Brant and Havertz are the ones I'm most excited/longing for, which is rediculous because I've never seen either of them play.
But from what has been said on here, they sound like a similar profile to Eriksen when he arrived. Brant particularly, a name that seems to have been around a while, loads of potential, still young and available for a relative steal. None of the big boys have taken the plunge yet.

We should be pushing hard for him. Rather him as a new young attacker than sessegnon.

Get both in...and Rabiot and Tielemans too

And then splash big money for Wan-Bissaka...and then bring Bale in on a Levy-special

Bish, bash, bosh; job's a good-un (y)

You've had too much sun again haven’t you.

I mean, c'mon dude you've missed out Ndombele.

It's treated as fact across the media
I know, but it wouldn’t be the first time they got a release clause rumour wrong.

Remember when Lloris had a release clause that the media were spouting about years ago?

Looks like an extremely talented lad.

Should we perhaps have a little concern that his apparent upturn in form & performances has been largely due to his understanding with Havertz?

Having never seen the lad play, is he likely to be able too perform the same with a different partner in the middle? That Havertz boy looks bloody good to, and (judging solely by that YouTube clip) I'm wondering if Winks could be the most similar player we have to him?

Tottenham line up summer move for £21.5m-rated Julian Brandt as they keep tabs on potential Christian Eriksen replacements
  • Julian Brandt, 23, is on Tottenham's radar ahead of a potential summer transfer
  • The Germany international has a £21.5m release clause inserted into his deal
  • Tottenham star Christian Eriksen has been linked with a move to La Liga
Tottenham are among the clubs monitoring developments with Julian Brandt at Bayer Leverkusen.

The 23-year-old Germany international is understood to have a £21.5million release clause for this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino is weighing up a move for the versatile attacking midfielder ahead of a potential move in time for next season.

Brandt has scored six goals and claimed 11 assists for Leverkusen which has led to Tottenham raising interest in the German.

Brandt could fill the void left by Christian Eriksen if the Dane chooses to move on at the end of this season.

Eriksen, who has just one more year left on his current deal at the north London outfit, has been linked with a move to La Liga with Real Madrid and Barcelona keen on securing his services.

Tottenham's immediate attention will be on their Champions League final clash with Liverpool and then they will look to complete summer deals as soon as possible.

Need both. Brandt been playing centrally most the season.. can rotate and challenge Eriksen/dele. Sess only young so needs time to develop and can play LWB/LB/LW

Brandt in, Lamela out would be so fucking sweet. Unfortunately the more likely scenario would be Brandt in, Eriksen out.
