Well. If his release clause is £21.5 million and the transfer window is now open, but we're supposedley not doing anything transfer wise, in or out until after the final in Madrid.

i think it just means we are not announcing anything, or talking in the public regarding transfer...it doesn't mean we are not doing anything or talking to anybody behind the scene...

What chance a player of this calibre at this price is still available. o_O
I think that only refers to our players outgoing not incoming transfers.

Brandt in, Lamela out would be so fucking sweet. Unfortunately the more likely scenario would be Brandt in, Eriksen out.

Would love for Eriksen to sign a new contract, but if he doesn't this deal could be pretty decent in the long-run.

JB would be a replacement for Eriksen and it would also leave us with anywhere between £40m to £80m to spend on further players.

I know I was joking a bit in my previous post about bringing players in, but if we're smart we could bring in 2 or 3 players for the cost of 1.

And still have our 'war-chest' to spend.

PS Need to be careful about bringing in too many players at once, but I guess we could sign young prospects and then loan them out for a season.

I’m hoping we’re after him regardless of whether Eriksen stays or not, we need more creative players in the squad and considering the state of our bench for the latter part of the season there’s plenty of room for him

Whilst this is probably true it makes me think why are we then flapping around in the last few days of the window trying to get deals over the line and sometimes failing

Well this from the Evening Standard is what made me think...

Pochettino is hoping for an overhaul of his squad this summer but Spurs are also considering delaying bids for their top transfer targets to allow the club's full focus to remain on Madrid.

Only Jadon Sancho (14) and Joshua Kimmich (12) have registered more assists than Brandt in the Bundesliga this season (11), while the 23-year-old has also scored six goals.

Furthermore, Brandt has provided more key passes than any other player in the Bundesliga this term (85).

Ryan Fraser has more than all of them, plays in an inferior team & did it in the PL.

Are assists the barometer for player judgement?

Not dismissing anyone's opinion, but apart from myself, based on previous discussions, it appears nobody would be overly excited if we were linked with Fraser.

I do wonder if part of what Poch meant about change is ditching the sell to buy mentality. Lot more noise this year although I guess the World Cup got in the way last year.

I suppose if Vorm and Llorente are leaving at the end of their deals then that's 2 non-HG places already to play with.

For someone like Brandt you'd surely have to act quickly and decisively.

yup. seems a lot of smoke around this one suddenly too. i know we've been keen for a while, that release clause must be like crack for levy surely, even if he wasn't such a top player.

I would, Fraser is quality. Always impressed by him. He would cost a bomb though.
I've only seen Brandt in the World Cup, and even in that disastrous German team the boy looked mustard. My memory is terrible but I'm sure whenever he came on he looked Germany's most dangerous player.
I haven't seen enough of Brandt to really warrant this opinion, but from my limited viewing, the one thing he definately had over Fraser is shooting. His long shots were so accurate. I would be super excited about this signing.

No, I wouldn't necessarily say that assists are a barometer for player judgement. Merely adding a little insight on a player we're supposedley linked to regarding part of his performances this past season.

As for Fraser, can't deny he's stepped up and performed in the Premier league. Great returns. (y)

Fraser is excellent but he's a pure winger. Brandt has proven he can play wide and centrally effectively and has a very well rounded skillset and decent physical attributes. I'd happily take either but would prefer Brandt.

That's is more directed to outgoings I think. Not letting our players lose focus before the final.

His contract runs same as eriksens, 12 months left
