Not a coincidence that both Jan and Vorm had a go at him.

Kept leaving his man and letting them drift into space behind... he was so far adrift from Sodell it was shocking. Vlad kept having to come over to cover, leaving the flank woefully exposed. Second half he was calling Vorm out to come claim the ball, but with far too much ground to cover, and far too much pressure. Kab should have dealt with it much earlier... direct pass back or cleared it.

I'm going to be honest, I've never really rated him, not since day one. Yeah he's a big twat, but he's never inspired great confidence in me.
Really?

I know no-one really likes him now but he had a period a couple of years ago where we was really quite good. He's never quite returned to that kind of form since the long injury lay off at the start of AVBs reign.

Oh for those halcyon days when we all couldn't wait for Younes to get fit again to line up alongside Jan - seemed like a match made in heaven.

His careers disintegrated since his long term injury, which he got when he was on his best form. Just like Sandro, it's quite sad really.

He had one season where he was playing along side Dawson, with Parker/Sandro/Modric in front of him. Again, imperious in the air, very stong, and good in a 1-1 situation. But his positioning has always been questionable, his touch and passing frequently lets him down, and generally his focus strays too much. He's always been like this.

Hmmm. Just seen on FB that 1882 were openly mocking Kaboul during this episode. That is piss piss poor in my opinion, they make a big thing about supporting without question blah blah blah ... but then to go ahead and openly and vocally mock our Captain, in front of the team on the pitch. I am quite shocked tbh.

More people sang Kaboul is on fire than this article would lead to believe.

Good to know. And was it 1882 who started with the Verts singing when it kicked off? Because the article suggests it was 1882 (they appear proud of it) but other reports i heard suggest it was mainly behind the goal

Hard to tell where it was started. I was in block 34, could have been people in block 35 but may not have been. The Kaboul chant definitely sounded like it originated in block 35 though.

He had a great game against arsenal though.
And if it is true that he confronted MP on our negative style of play,
then you have to admire his bravery if not his intelligence, coming off a particularly poor personal performance against stoke.

But sure, since then MP's stock has risen (thanks to Kane) and there doesn't look a way back for Kaboul.

I think it is important to have an outfield captain, but there was a pretty dismal choice of candidates, once Daws was pushed out. Kaboul was as good a pick as any.

Vertonghen has had a good season, and shows commitment unlike last season.
If he signs his contract, then for me he can have the armband.

He was good against the scum, but tbh us sitting on the edge of our own box for most of the game helped him not getting isolated or exposed, he tackled and fought well but the flaws in his positioning were nulified by us playing so deep that day.

Kaboul is currently out of favour and rumoured to be sold soon, how can he possibly still be our captain? ludicrous.

Poch has made mistakes in his choice of captains from the word go, and by putting Kaboul as captain lastnite i think he is carrying on making mistakes regarding this matter again.

I don't like the whole tone of that article to be honest. Weirdly hateful/aggressive and seemingly pleased to see Kaboul falling apart based on rumours of backroom problems which no-one knows the truth about.

I actually didn't read it like that. I read it as "it's sad to see it happen, but......he's shit, and what's worse, is that he doesn't care".

That's just my interpretation though.

I for one was delighted that this happened last night.

Jan showed more passion and professional attitude (not saying he doesn't have it, just that he showed it), than we have seen from him before.

As an ever present who was let down by a club captain, he drove home the lack of awareness and ability that Kaboul has been showing. This may have caused a little tension but I bet the manager was delighted that someone stood up and was counted to say what had to be said and not be more worried about rocking the boat.

We need winners in our club and Jan showed a winners mentality last night.

More of it on Saturday I say (cos I will be there for the first time in about 9 years!!!!)

Never mind all this nonsense, when are you going to post the pics of the hairdos you promised us?

Kaboul's always been a positional liability. King used to cover his arse. He always looked ropey with Dawson. For one year, his game came to together and he looked like a real player. Now the pace is in decline, confidence is low, his decision making looks atrocious again.

Am i missing something? Who mocked Kaboul in front of the team on the pitch? You mean Vertonghen or what?

As I said in the player rating thread, from what I remember Jan started shouting at Kaboul after a Burnley player was given offside. He seemed to be suggesting Kaboul needed to sweep around behind him but I could be wrong, I didn't hear anything he said just what he seemed to be gesturing. It might not even have been that incident that annoyed him, just that it was a convenient break in play to get his feelings out there.

Anyway, Kaboul gave as good as he got and it was probably all nothing like Pochettino said at the end of the game. At least they didn't have to be seperated like Tomkins and Noble(?) the other night.

I did feel sorry for Kaboul when the Vertonghen chants started but at least there was a second chant for Kaboul right after it, although it wasn't as loud. I think Kaboul being made captain was a stop gap, the only obvious choice for captain at the time was Lloris and some managers don't like having a 'keeper as their captain. Once you make someone a captain it's hard to take it off them without insulting them, unless you sell them, and I think that's why Kaboul got it, either he would step up and have a good season, cementing his place in the side, or he doesn't and will be moved on.

I've got nothing against Kaboul but like others have said, I always felt a lot of our fans were getting a bit carried away with his form pre-injury. I think it'd be best for both parties if he moves on either in this window or the summer(is he out of contract then?) he doesn't look suited to the high line at all. If he goes to a side that don't push up as much then I'm sure he'll get his form back, just look how good he was against Arsenal, he's not finished yet at top flight level.
