Who would you take back now?

....who would you take?

Just a bit of fun. The roasting Nickchrissi is getting got me thinking. In our current situation right now, who would you take back today if you could have only one?

Modric or VDV?

Jebus H Chrizzle that's a hard question.

I think Modric was probably the better player. His ability to turn defence into attack, to bring other players into the game and to generally make our entire team tick was genuinely a joy to watch.

But there was just something about Rafa. He was something special. He could create something from nothing, he could do things nobody else on the pitch could do and his will to win and love for the club/fans was amazing. I think when he scored the first against Inter at the Lane and ran past the shelf was one of my favourite moments as a Spurs fan.

There was something quintessentially Spurs about Rafa. So I'd probably unwisely go for him.

Definately Luka, I think its pretty obvious from some of this seasons performances he made us tick.
Though I do love Rafa....................... and Sylvie

Rafa, without a doubt.

Would love to have seen him playing a bit deeper for us, which I think AVB would have done.

Rafa, he scored and assisted, something we are missing from the middle. Dembele can be our Modric if we can keep him fit, can Dempsey or Sigurdsson fill Rafas boots? Unsure, long term i think Gylfi can but looks like he is struggling so far.

I'd say VDV.

Modric was great, but at least we've have some good players that can/will hopefully replace him. When everyone's fit we'll have Sandro, Parker and Dembele available to occupy the two deeper midfield positions which Modric mostly played in the last few years. All are different to Modric and don't bring as much to the game offensively, but each has there own qualities that make them very good in thier own right. The drop off from Modric to them three is a lot smaller than from VDV to his replacements. We have yet to find anyone who can play the No.10 role to anywhere near the sort of level we need and got from VDV. Dempsey has been a major disappointment there (I don't think it's his best position, but that's for a different thread) and Siggy hasn't been much better. Neither get involved as much as they should in the game and are one of the reasons why we don't keep possession any where near as much as we did before.

Tough one, but the little rat faced **** for me, i think with him and Dembele in the middle we'd be more effective than with VDV and Dembele.

Speaking logically I'd have to go for Modric. Younger and more important to how we would play.

Rafa without a doubt. Absolute class, goals and assists and workrate. We have players who can play the Modric role to a lesser effect but we have nobody who can even get close to Rafa.

Rafa

It's a no brainer for me. The guy could just change a game out of nothing. He had amazing skill, wonderful technical ability, the will to win and knew how to win. A huge heart, passion, I think he genuinely loved the club, and a bit more persuasion, maybe at least some persuasion, he may still be here.

I still miss him :(
