Would have to say Rafa for guts and glory alone. Played like he loved the club. You cant beat that. Legend.

Like many have already said - the heart chooses Rafa but the head chooses Modric. Both amazing players but I think Modric edges it for overall team improvement.

Plus we would get more money for him next Summer ;)

I think I'd go Modric for his ability to set our teams tempo, it's been so plainly absent since he's gone. That's what the head says anyway.

The heart says Rafa though, the team lost a lot of it's soul when he left.

My favourite goal from the last few years was when they both combined to score the first against Inter at home. Rafa and the Lane went absolutely batshit crazy.

Modric by a long way

Battery to the watch
Beat to the heart
Cog to our machine

etc....

Tough call, real tough call. These two had more brains between them than the rest of our squad combined.

We've really missed Modders ability to keep possesion of the fucking football. Modric alongside Dembele would have gone some way to rectifying our problem of continually giving the ball away when under pressure. Later on in games he would have been vital.

Watching our complete lack of intelligence in the final third this year and certainly in home games against stubborn defences, you just know that VDV would have been able to unlock a few more doors. Or at least give the door a fucking good kick rather than watching Dempsey/Sig fumbling around looking for their keys in the pissing rain.

Either. Both. Anyone. Please, anyone of similar quality in January.

Been mulling it over, for the future Modric (not the shit one we had the second half of last season), for the control of the game etc Modric, probably for the betterment of the team as a whole Modric......

But simply for my pleasure of watching Spurs and the passion he brought, thats is so much lacking ATM, I have to say Rafa. I would love to see him atthe Lane again even if just watchign a match, the reception he would get would be AMAZING!

I think when Dembele is fit we miss VDV more than Modric, but when Dembele is injured we miss Modric more.

If I had to choose I would have Rafa back, and i'd make him captain.

For what we need now, Rafa. We've got a good Modric replacement in Dembele, we haven't replaced Rafa properly.

A midfield of Dembele-Modric-Sandro would be nice, but theres few goals in there. Where as a midfield of Sandro-Dembele-Rafa has pretty much everything you want.

Too hard to choose this. Both in all honesty. Rafa clearly hasn't been replaced, people say Dembele has come in for Modric but he brings different qualities to the team. Neither have been replaced really

vdv had an impact on 80% of matches if not more for us, scored vital goals, took penalties always wanted the ball. I love him definitely rafa

Rafa was my favourite player, bloody loved him but anyone who thinks he was more important than Modric is nuts. Modric ran the show and if he came back to us now we would be utterly lethal. We'd hold the ball well, Bale and Lennon would get in to the game and Dembele would be able to bomb forward and overload defences, something we didn't have last year. If VDV came back we'd play some prettier football, he score some important goals but it wouldn't change us that match. Fuck I wish we hadn't sold him though

Modric is pure class, no doubt about that, and for some time was my favourite player.

However, Rafa gets my vote. He put heart, passion and fire into the team which is now missing. He always gave 100%. I miss him more than Modric.

Looks as if it's going to be a damn close run thing.
I agree with Mourinho that Modric is the one and VDV is not.

On footballing requirements alone I pick Modric.

For anything else I would pick Rafa (or if you added in personality and desire etc), but right now the team needs someone in the midfield who can play the pass, bring it all together.
