Couldn't disagree more with OP in terms of Ibra in his prime. He didn't fail at Barca from a playing point of view - it didn't work out because of the style of the club, a personality clash with Guardiola and the difficulty of fitting both Ibra and Messi into the same team. He still had 17 odd goals in 30 odd games if I remember correctly.

Top 3 striker in the world for a prolonged period of time - skilful, great at assisting, strong as an ox, decent pace when younger, great finishing from all types of ranges and situations, free kicks etc etc had/has it all.

Alas, he might find the PL pace a bit too much at this stage in his career, which as a football fan is a shame, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it since he's at Utd

So Zlatan is to get the number 9 shirt at the expense of an allegedly, understandably miffed Martial.

Probably press bollocks but not exactly the way to treat one of the few good players from last season is it and you couldn't blame Martial for being a bit pissed off IMO

But it is quite funny that they've done this at the same time Martial's backroom team have tried to launch the brand AM9

Agreed.

Think Ibra was a bit ****ish in how he put on Instagram he'd chosen number 9 too, so disrespectful...

He's worn number 11 at Milan in past so absolutely no reason he couldn't have again been given that number and the much more long-term plan Martial be allowed to keep 9.

Ibra's favourite number seems to be 10 anyways so surely not much difference between taking 9 or 11 with 10 unavailable to him.

I've seen him play, he's a genuinely superb footballer. Excellent reading of the game, great touch and vision. Bit like Pirlo, Zidane and Scholes in that he doesn't seem to run much but is always 2 or 3 steps ahead of everyone else. Is always in position to pass, flick or shoot at the right moment. Capable of the unexpected and sublime like Le Tissier. At 35 he's past his best, but that level of experience and ability can be invaluable.

Mad as a bicycle to boot.

I am probably going to get stoned for this but he scored almost double the amount of goals that Lacazette (sp?) and Bat... (whatever) last season.

Yes he played for PSG but I don't buy this bs he is past his best. He will light up the league imo.

Agre with Waffles. I'd love to see him fail, but he has that magic that as him apart.
