Seeing Tevez on the bench today was brilliant. Hate the club Carlos? Why don't you get comfortable and watch Dzeko and Aguero play.

Let's do this to Modric. 2 months on the bench and he'll be begging to play

It seems to have gone unnoticed but the fact that we had agreed a deal for Mata 3 weeks shows us 2 things:

1) that we are after a wide player/attacking midfielder

and

2) we are prepared to pay a big fee (as his buyout clause was £23 million pounds iirc

A small positive surely in an overall negative interview.
Yeah, good point.

Can we not sell this little shit to Juventus or someone similar in Europe? £25m - £30m for him and reinvest in someone like Marin. I just can't stand having him at the club anymore - to think he is still getting paid more than the average Joe earns in a couple of years each week pisses me of! He's not even injured!

I'd love to phone my boss and tell him that my head wasn't feeling right and won't be in tomorrow.

Sell him.

Selling Modric this Summer, whether abroard, or not, is unacceptable, full stop. He must not be sold this Summer - the Chairman has staked his credibility on it.

The more determined he is to leave the more determined I am to make him stay, or rather hope Levy does should I say

That little fucker shouldn't be sold after signing a five year contract, fuck him....the implications of such sale make us small time.

Exactly.

I really do hope modric sits on the bench for the remaining 5 years of his contract, only being brought on when the board for added time goes up.... And if he does a berbatov and refuses, just fine him a weeks wages! He's went from a legend in my eyes to a little ****. I really hope levy sticks to his word!

That is second option. Option 1 isthat he plays for us and is fooking amazing.

Okay, I've listen to the interview now, and feel that some posters should do the same as they seem to need some clarification.
Redknapp didn't say that modric isn't playing because his head isn't right. He was very clear that he isn't playing becuase he has an injury. He then qualified it by saying his head isn't right, anyway and that maybe he could have played through it.
So, there is a good chance that Modric woldn't have been playing whether his head was right or not, and itis a fact that if he had accompanied the team he would have been playing through an injury. In this case, the injury could have worsened prior to kick off, such as in warming up, causing him to miss the game. Or he could have aggrevated it during the match, causing him to be out for weeks or even months.

Levy has said he is absolutely not going to be sold, so lets not turn on a player due for something so trivial, which could possibly have the effect we all (or the more sane ones, anyway) want to avoid - driving him out of the club.

He's not going to say 'yes it's all done while speaking on the radio', the club will probably want to announce it properly. So we really can't read too much into the 'snags', he most likely just said that so he doesn't inadvertently announce a signing

I don't doubt this at all. The way Harry says things just makes me feel he is less than happy. He probably wanted to say, "The chairman rang me up and said we had a deal agreed for the boy 3 weeks ago, but he wanted £5k more a week, so the chairman told him to do one...grrrr"

Or he might have more accurately said, "The chairman rang me up and said we had a deal agreed for the boy 3 weeks ago. But I changed my mind again, cos I've seen someone else who i thinks 'triffic".

Depends which "camp" you're in i suppose.

I just listened to the interview and I don't think any of it come across as Harry having a beef with Levy (irrespective of what may be happening behind closed doors).

Maybe the fact is just that as we are not in the champions league we cannot attract the type of players we want. Why weren't we bidding for these players last summer or in January when we had a chance to get them in might be a more pertinant question.

If Luka's head not right fine, drop him until the transfer windows closed without pay, then introduce him back again. We really have to make a stand on these players.

Can someone clarify for this for me:

Did Harry say Luka didn't play against Hearts because his head wasn't right

OR

He wont be playing tomorrow because his head isn't right?

Quite.

I think most of us have been saying that all along. Puzzling indeed.

his head isnt right? triple wages is nice but he is getting paid so much money as it is, if it was a move to a totally different country like tevez then fair enough. he's an idiot, he really is

Think of the millions of people on c10k or less a year. This little rat has the cheek to complain about what 40-60k a week?

Yeah he might want to win things but if you want out do it respectfully. I do not think any of us would have blamed him had he done it all behind closed doors.

However to come out and publicly state that our 2nd biggest rivals, those plastic nobodys who are only a now well known club because a Russian oil money man decided he wanted a new playtoy ARE A BIGGER CLUB THAN US? It just isn't on. To have had the cheek to say he wont disrespect the fans by handing in a transfer request but at the same time bang on about how great the chavs are is not on.

Not only does it embarres the club but it also limits our abillity to get top dollar for him dramtically by him saying he A) wants out and B) wants to stay in London and move to Chelsea specifically.

Oh and for the record, i think he used the "wont disrespect the fans" line to cover himself so he gets his sell on fees that hed lose out on by handing in a transfer request.

Sorry if it's a tad off topic but it is about Modric not playing as Harry has said in this interview.

When I did a tour of the WHL the guide told me that Berbatov believed that he had a verbal agreement with Levy that he could leave to a Champions League club for the right fee.

It's strange that Modric seems to have had the same verbal agreement.

Maybe Levy feels he needs to do this to get these guys to sign contracts. I'm not defending them but you can see that they might start acting up in they feel they've been lied to.

I think the Mata bid shows Levy is happy to fork out the big bunce with players with big resale value. Mata is one the top, top emerging young players players so Levy is happy to pay big money for him. I would hope we can put a few bids in for other such players like Ganso (not saying they'll ever come to us, but might as well try).

Has Redknapp seen Mata play before?

If he has then he'd know that he and Luka are very different players.

Modric's head will be right when he has that little sit down with Levy in a months time and gets a rise in his wages....expect a little statement from him then to, akin to Rooney.
