The Harry Winks thread really is it’s own version of Groundhog Day:

Poster 1: good luck to him. I’ve never understood why so many fans hate him
Poster 2: I don’t hate him, I just don’t think he’s good enough for our club
Poster 3: Harry Winks is a turd that won’t flush

and back to poster 1. For what it’s worth, I’m poster 2
Poster 4: This thread is like Groundhog Day..

I just want him to leave because I used to really rate him when he first came into the team and expected a lot of him.

He never really developed at all and is the same player he was all those years ago. We have seen what he has to offer and it’s no longer what we need so I’d rather his spot goes to someone who can compete

It's not that simple mate, he has to want to go there or what's the point of bidding?

Of course, but then i'm surprised he fancied a loan move to Sampdoria, English players are notorious for being reluctant to move abroad. I would have guessed he'd have preferred to move to Fulham or Brentford or something but I must be wrong!

I'm not sure he's ever lost his form, his form just isn't good enough.
I've never hated him but I've been saying for years that's the case.
I do wonder just how good Dembele made him look too. He was so good at getting control in midfield which allows players like Winks to thrive. I know he did well in the CL final without him but even then the final wasn't great.

Can’t believe some of the mid/lower EPL teams didn’t go for him, particularly on loan. He would improve many of them, teams like Everton, Bournemouth, Leicester…..

I think Everton have had enough of taking our cast offs. Had their fingers burnt with Dele and probably decided they didn’t want another one.

Winks wouldn’t get a game at Leicester. He probably thinks Bournemouth are below him but more likely they just weren’t interested.

We can speculate till the cows come home but if he’s going Sampdoria it’s reasonable to conclude there were no decent PL clubs in for him. It’s not hard to believe really, he’s not that good. PL is really competitive. Even Fulham have players like Perriera and Palinha in midfield, far better players than Winks.

I think if he wants regular game time in English football it’s going to be in the championship, so Sampdoria in context is a good move. He could do well there and maybe convince some PL clubs next summer that he’s worth taking.

They've barely had to pay anything for him to be fair ? Given we regularly make 40-50 million cock ups, Dele seems like a bargain cock up to me.

Winksy looks a proper Everton player IMHO.

Dele is better than most players in Everton. Is terrible they not letting him played more. I have no sympathy for them this season if they are flirting relegation again.

Wasn’t there talk that he had rejected a number of interested clubs?

Paper talk that we have no way of knowing which bits were true. I don't recall ITK talking about him turning down good offers from Prem sides.

The fact that Sampdoria appears to be the best offer he has had, speaks volumes.

Davinson was under £40m, we've only made 2 transfers above £40m in our history. Richarlison and Ndombele. 50% cock up with the other way too early to know is hardly regular.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not, assuming you're not, have you not been following last few seasons of dele's career?

Not good enough to get in many if any PL team, considering what he ended up going for, there would of been more interested parties. The fact he's ended up in Turkey on a 2 bob deal says it all.

As for your lack of sympathy if they are flirting with relegation that IMHO opinion has no correlation with Dele not being played or still being at Everton, if they are still again poor this season that's due to many prior poor transfers and lack of investment this season.

Winksy on the other hand has or had a lower ceiling but his heart and soul is always on display.. With his sideways passing ?

Yet another player going who we can’t get a fee for. Not exactly great

It’s been mentioned elsewhere but I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I think Winks is the only one that when he returns will be going into the last year of his contract. And, I’d argue his value is probably the lowest of the ones we openly want rid of anyway.

The hope of these moves has to be that with more game time in arguably easier leagues, they impress. Add in to that it’ll also be another year removed from the Covid financial hardships and next summer looks more favorable for permanent moves. It’s still not an ideal situation, as I know the club would love cash in hand for these guys, but this feels very much like making chicken salad out of chicken shit.

I just think it’s amazing no PL club has taken him. No idea on his price, maybe we are asking too much, but he’s a player who was available for, say £10m to £15m, you’d think a lot of the league would want him. Hopefully we are getting a decent loan fee.

Maybe it's him doesn't want them?
