Would genuinely take £5m for Winks just to get him off the books - isn't he supposedly on £80k a week?

It's not like we've bought him, so any money is pure profit.

I thought Pep really rated him according to some on here. Apparently he would do really well in their system. I wonder why they haven’t made a bid? For such a quality player I thought he’d have more suitors :sneaky:

Kinda hoping that the Chelsea deal for Fofana goes through, if indeed Leicester are interested in Winks. Anything above £15 million for Winks should be considered a good deal for us.

For me it's less about the fee and more about doing right by an academy kid (and also getting his wages off the books). I know he may not be the most popular player on here, but if he exits on bad terms with the club, some of our younger guys might take notice. Would love for our academy to continue to be a good source of income for the club.

Well, you would hope that the academy kids would notice that Winks got a contract - on real good wages - at a top PL club, as much as they notice what happens when you no longer fit.

Pay me 80k/week for 4 years, and you can bad mouth me all you want.

I think Winksy has had a word with Danny Rose and he's now holding out for Milan ;)

They will just be using the numbers they had last season, rather than being given a number this season

Once the transfer window closes numbers will be confirmed.

Agree on the first part. Although spurs have released the numbers saying bissouma is confirmed to be wearing 38 this season. They will piss a lot of paying customers off (if they buy a bissouma 38 shirt) if they change that in a few weeks surely.

Edit I spose they can get away with it by saying All clubs are required to submit their final 25-man squad lists to the Premier League at the conclusion of the summer transfer window.

Still seems strange to confirm it if not confirmed

If we sold Winks/Lo Celso/Ndombele this weekend and bought in another player, they could take the number of the player sold.
But we won't swap players numbers that are staying as the club have confirmed the number, and as you say, would piss off fans

Depends how desperately the player wants the number. Players have paid for fans to swap shirts to the new number in the past - Adebayor for one when he went from 25 to 10.

Conte has already said he and others should move on. What’s your problem?
No problem at all, I've just seen dross like him be coddled during the transfer window and then we end up having to put up with them for another year and they end up costing us points, so I would've liked to have seen us be a little more ruthless.
