look at the goals people. there was really nothing he good do. besides gomes came good and then blew it. the defense seems uneasy with gomes in.

dawson and kaboul dont work thats the problem bassong should have played ahead of kaboul and a natural left sided CB apart from king no one else can do it.

if we bring a Cb he needs to be left sided

Gomes is too good to be a backup. I'd be out of the door if I were him too, this club is going nowhere fast. The knock-on effect will probably leave Sandro unhappy as he's relied heavily on Gomes to help him settle, not that Harry gives a shit because he won't be around to find out.

Nothing like a bit of knee-jerk speculation to stir the soul eh Brett?

This isn't a kneejerk reaction because we have let in 8 goals in two EPL games, but I think Gomes is by far and away our best option. He makes the odd blunder sure, but last season he pulled off saves that earned us many a point too.

Laughable if people blame Friedel for any of the goals. Are you being serious?

Friedel has been very good in both games.

Friedel's a good keeper. Gomes is better and about 10 years younger. This is a fucking ridiculous situation.

Gomes is in the last year of his contract and want away.
Think that might be a reason, especially with Cudicini on the bench today.

Do you think that Gomes would have kept any of the goals out today?

I actually rate Gomes when he's at his best but he wasn't at his best at all last season and I can see why Friedel has been picked. So far I don't think Friedel has made any errors so I'd keep him in for now.

if we had 2 keepers in goal today, either wont have saved some of them they were that good, thought friedel was good today but i would rather have gomes in goal, but whoever was in goal it wont have made a difference.

Um Friedal was great what you doing watching high lights fromm his blackburn days!!

Streuth if Gomes had let one of them in the media would be all over him. I actually think that Gomes would have saved 3 of those shots followed by throwing one in our net for good measure. Gomes would have come for half of the balls and been punching Kaboul and Dzekos lights out!

Cudicini is better than Friedal .. Friedal is past it I am sorry to day!!

Exactly what I thought...I think Carlo is definitely 2nd choice keeper behind Gomes...Think Harry did a major boob buying him!

We've been through this all before with Robinson.

Robbo rarely made mistakes but he didn't make that many saves from the shots he faced (between 55%-65%) in his worst to best seasons.

Friedel (according to SKY stats) has conceded 8 goals from 18 shots so has a save ratio of 56% which is the same as Robbo at his worst.

Gomes's average has always been between 70-75%, even when he's made mistakes.

Extenuating circumstances are that it is only 2 games and Friedel has faced some of the best strikers in the business but the bottom line is that Friedel was bought in to improve upon Gomes and hasn't come close.
Most people on here suspected this would probably be the case so it's about time Harry realised this and bought back our real number 1.

1. You've admitted yourself that those stats are based on 2 games against 2 very good teams...and to add a human element do you think Friedel should have saved any of the goals today?

2. Those stats don't include Gomes' balls up do they? Or his inconsistency at catching crosses etc. Basically his erratic goalkeeping isn't reflected in those stats.

Personally I think Gomes, at his best, is better than Friedel. But using such simplistic stats proves nothing.

It shows you that for every 100 shots, only 25 get by him. Whereas with Friedel it's more like 40. Whether there's some mistakes thrown in there or not, it's all covered within that percentage. Brad Friedel is an old man and his entire career has flittered between middle of the road clubs, he quite simply should not be the #1 for Tottenham Hotspur.

Rather than just hiding behind stats, what do you think that Gomes would have done differently today?

I rate Gomes...at his best he is a quality keeper, but tell me what difference he'd have made today.
