It's very strange isn't it.

Using a bit of Sports psychology here, personally, I'd ask one of our players to stand somewhere just beyond the near post, not even move, and tell Eriksen to imagine the top of his head is the top corner of the goal, and to have a "shot" at it.

Amazing.
I was thinking exactly the same thing.
An alternative would be to buy a player called "Postage Stamp" and put him in the middle for corners.

Great idea.

And while we're at it can we bring in a ball boy called 'Row Z' and get him to stand behind the goal when Townsend is playing.

To be honest, regardless of where we cross the ball none of our boys get a head on it anyway. I've watched countless corners go in the box over the years, some good, alot bad. We never get our head on any of them.

With freekicks it's just him, the wall and the keeper. With corners you are relying on the other men to actually do something when you put it in there. His corners are pretty poor but no one gets a head on them anyway so who cares. I don't even get mildly optimistic at the sight of a corner and haven't done for years lol

...seems totally at odds with his crap corner taking.

How can this be?
Its easier to take a free kick than a corner, as at some stadiums you have take a corner up hill as the pitch tends to be raised at some places, this is apparent at old trafford and WHL. This makes it harder to get your foot under the ball.

Also the area around the pitch tends to be astroturf so it makes it harder for the player to do a natural movement when they move from one surface to another as they are kicking.

Then how come everyone else's corners seem to be great at WHL ?

Just because you think that, doesnt mean its true

We have conceded 2 headed goals at home all season and we were at the start of the year 6th lowest team with goals conceded from set pieces with 6 goals

If we're not winning at the late stages of games, the stadium should break into chanting "last gasp Christian".

How can they get their heads to the crosses when most of the time it only reaches the first defender or is over hit above all? The corners are poor, don't blame the other players for his poor crosses.

How many is that since he's been with us? 7/8? That's not counting the ones that have hit the bar or post. I genuinely think he's probably the best direct free kick taker

We all knew he was one of the top free kick takers in the world before we bought him so no surprise he has scored so many with us.

As for corners I think he is trying to be too cute and accurate, just needs to whip the ball into the right space.

Some of his successful free kicks have been far harder efforts to get in than most of the ones hes missed/slapped into the wall. Weirdly inconsistent.

It's just an urban legend, as somebody has previously mentioned, we are in the top half of goals scored from corners this season.

Pretty sure we've scored a number of goals directly from corners this season. Kane and Vlad 100% definitely have.

Dier against QPR too. But that number is still a relatively small number when you consider the likes of Cahill, Terry, Ivanovic, Skirtel etc seemingly popping up every other week. It's a huge weakness because teams are more happy to put the ball out for a corner against us than they perhaps are other teams, which is an issue when you're already struggling for width.
